pre... ako wala din akong covered parking sa bahay, although naka basement parking ako dito sa office. yung mga ginagawa ko to maintain the quality of my car paint is simple:

    a) pag nasa house ako, binabalutan ko lang ng car cover.
    b) i clean my car regularly (once or twice a week) and
    c) i wax it regularly too (mga twice to thrice a month)

yup, get a car cover! ako din, wlang garage yun apt namin. big help din yun cover lalo na sa bird droppings, mild rain, dew and esp sa mga tao na dumadaan lalo na if they're not aware they are carrying stuff that can scratch the paint or put a set of dimples. parang yung mga nagbebenta ng taho o di kaya yun mga naglalaro/bisekleta na bata. nakow!. ang kukulit! hehehehe. i also wash twice weekly and wax para atleast kahit papano me proteksyon yun paint mo from (acid) rain. pagkatapos ng wash at wax, cover agad hehehe.

Frequent washing and washing will help. Just like what others said try buying a water resistant car cover and use it. :D

is it ok to put the car cover say 5 minutes after you shut off your engine, or do you have to wait for the engine to really cool down first, para hindi mainit yung area sa may hood?

ngayon ko lang nakita to ah...

ONLY USE A COVER AFTER WASHING THE CAR... any dust or dirt that sits in between your cover and the paint will rub back and forth like a large sandpaper...

I don't have a garage as well.. I wash around 3-4x a week, it's easier to keep a paint from swirling if you keep the car clean and not allow the dirt to accumulate... Once a week in our conditions is a bit too "late", it's pretty much certain that after a week of grime, it'll stick to the paint quite well...

Oh speaking of not having a garage... Look what happened to my car yesterday... grr...

You can make it yourself... go to any hardware shops and get a nice grommet kit... then buy a rubber covered steel braid to run under the car.... tapos padlock.
