    Hi All!

    1. what sort of engines do you expect from one?(isuzu(?) 1.3L, 4-cylinder, etc...)

    2. top speed?

    3. suspension types(although pagkakaalam ko leaf springs both front and back)

    thanks!

    Engine options:
    Diesel -- Isuzu C190, C221, C224
    Gas -- Toyota 4K, 5K some have new 7K.

Don't expect it to outrun a BMW. :D Primary concern is safety with most models having wide open windows and small doors in it, best to assume that it can comply with expressway's min speed requirement.

Leaf sprung models are sold much cheaper, but front coil sprung with A-arms are also available.

    1. Halos kahit anong makina ng kotse puwedeng ikabit sa owner-type. Napaka-galing humanap ng paraan ng mga Pinoy.

    2. Depende sa makina, gaan ng kaha at haba ng kalye. ;)

    3. Front coil, rear leaf... (or none at all for special applications)

    Curious ako. Ba't mo natanong?

Merong dragster sa Libis dati, 2TG ang gamit kaso tuned for drag yung engine, simpleng rampa ng gas station ginagalit pa makina para makasampa.

You can use virtually any engine you like, but the Toyota K series engines and their parts are easy to find. so they're cheaper to maintain.

For owner type jeeps virtually any engine will fit, FWD or RWD. I've heard there is even one with a Toyota 4AGZE (supercharged) engine under the hood.

As for top speed, there is a safety problem with owner types. They have a tendency to lift and take-off (like an airplane) when driven at very high speeds. It has happened a few times at drag racing events using airport runways.

my friend was able to do around 120kph in an owner with a engine taken from a lite-ace (I was tailgaiting him).

kaso sobra daw nakakatakot... parang pwede nang lumipad anytime... hehehe...

I wonder if anyone can do an owner-type that is aerodynamically stable? (smooth underside, partly wedged front end and covered topside) Should be an owner-type for the modern times.

no plans naman, dark ones or otherwise ;) on several occassion ko na kasi nakikita na ang hina ng takbo ng owner types(hindi naman overloaded). di naman sa minamaliit ko ung owner type ha -- nagtataka nga ako why no one has taken it to the next level... just curious if this has something to do with the usual engine installed.

me nagtangka na bang maglagay ng V8? baka pagpiniga ung gas e makawala ung engine B).

sa chassis naman naka-mount yung engine ng mga owner kaya di naman kakalas ang makina. yung stability lang pag high-speed ang questionable although yung owner namin dati with a 12R engine hinahataw namin sa Ilocos up to 150kph.

Well, I am making a Lotus 7 replica (aka Caterham/Westfield/etc replica). Nice two seater, Toyota 4AGE silvertop engine, hopefully weighing in about 1,300 lbs or less. I suppose in our culture, eh, di owner-type ang classification, it being homebuilt.

Most of the chassis will be fabricated (rather than getting a ladder frame, as what most owner-type manufacturers do). Ah, well, I'll update you guys from time to time how its coming along... Sana matapos ko within this year.

Owner ko dati with a 4K engine could do 100 kph. Nilagyan namin race filter and headers parang tumulin pa (di ko lang ma measure nasira kasi spedo ). At 100 kph + nakakatakot talaga lalo na pag mag-isa ka. Pero ive driven one with a 2T engine at those speed medyo stable pa. Naka coil spring and power steering pala yun, yung owner ko dati leaf spring and pawis steering.

Siguro kaya ng pinoy gawan ng paraan ang aerodynamics... Pero syempre, tataas ang presyo... Mas labor-intensive yata ang curved structure vs. yung box box lang, or mas mahal ang makina to make them...
