    By: Cristina Lee-Pisco
AMBASSADOR to Pakistan Jaime Yambao, representatives of the Kazakh government and Bechtel Corporation are working on the security plan to enable Filipino workers to continue working safely in Tengiz, Kazakhstan in the wake of labor riots in the area.

This developed as 11 of the 231 Filipinos who decided to return home from Tengiz have begun the return trip.

Labor Attaché Reste de la Fuente reported to the Department of Foreign Affairs that Ambassador Yambao immediately coordinated with the authorities in Tengiz to come up with the security plan to protect the welfare of the 652 OFWs working in the area. The Filipino workers have not returned to work while the security plan is being drawn up.

De la Fuente said 11 OFWs left Tengiz for Atyrau on Thursday. From Atyrau, flight arrangements will be made for the 11 OFW’s return to Manila.

The first batch of 11 Filipinos who are returning to the Philippines from Tengiz are: Jimmy Fajardo; Adriano Teodolfo; Lauro Aritmetico; Ricardo Ramos; Mark Lagroma; Edwin Quinto; J. Lauren Serano; Julieto Agno; Oneal Landicho; Guillermo Villacarlos; and Berlito Serut.
