Performance? Very slow. Hehehehe. But it will keep up with traffic.

The engine is the SD33 Turbo diesel with no intercooler. It was the only engine ever offered locally.

It has power steering but manual windows and locks.

Parts (OEM and replacement) are available. They are cheaper than most car parts and/or are designed to withstand much more abuse than you can imagine.

Calibration is recalibrating the injection pump back to original specs. It is major service of the injection pump. But not of the engine itself.

Php 4T is the price if you have it done at an ordinary calibration shop. If you have a shop that knows what the OEM specs are and are experts in the field (e.g. DENSO and Betan) do it, then you are looking at around Php 8K up. Of course, if you only need some nozzle tip cleaning or replacement, this will be cheaper.

Puting usok? Dapat wala na yan when the engine is warm. Although some level of white smoke is tolerable. Just make sure the engine is not consuming oil nor coolant.

The Nissan Patrol is a well loved vehicle around here. If the unit is good, then I guess it would be worth it.

About 2 years ago, that model sells around 300K...so at 200K that is cheap enough.

Prone an body niyan sa rusting (bumubula) sa may fenders (most nissan's during that time ay ganun).

Go invest on a good calibration kasi mababawi mo iyan sa fuel na maisesave mo on a well-conditioned injection.

D brakes on the safari are much better.Medyo malakas sa diesel since it's a 6 cylinder. Maganda yan pang-long distance.Malaki din ang luggage at passenger capacity.

Is the calibration a major task?
How much kaya gagastusin to the max?
I am quite concerned about the white smoke, is this because of the need for calibration? Or there's something wrong sa engine..
How do I know na ok pa engine?

    Thanks

It is hard to conclude whether the white emissions is due to an improperly calibrated injection pump or a failure in the engine itself.

Calibration may or may not be a major task depending on how you look at it. The injection pump itself is a separate unit from the engine and can be taken out and serviced on its own without dismantling other unrelated components. An estimated cost is hard to give out. But do expect anything from Php 8K - 14K.

If the engine is not leaking or consuming oil or coolant at any significant pace (kailangan dagdagan weekly) and that it is making adequate power and respectable fuel consumption then it is probably on the side of being ok. It is just hard to make a judgement call especially since we cannot see the unit itself.

Tanungin mo si Bazilca/Kamote. Siya lang kilala namin may MQ. Kung calibration kina Betan and Denso ang best bet mo.

slow? it will outrun the 4.2 sa highway basta in good condition lang engine. problems mostly is rust sa rear fenders and the weak brakes. it has the same hood, front and rear doors, glass as the safari.

We used to have one before and i can say its a very solid, reliable truck (relative to maintainance and condition). Rust is also prone to the area of the fender flare and the tire carrier rattles but these can still be remedied. On the rust, wash the area under wheel wells thoroughly from time to time and make sure you have the car rustproofed.

The engine is pretty strong and fast, but this depends on the condition i guess. Ours could out-run the then brand new 2.5L intercooler Pajeros and 140kph is quite attainable on the highway. You can upgrade with an intercooler but this would be a custom job IMO.

It could be consuming oil. Bring it to a reputable shop for compression testing.

I am quite concerned about the white smoke..
Pag ba papacalibrate dapat blak smoke lang?
Since it's white, I suspect it must be the engine..
Magkano kaya gastos sa engine overhaul nito incase?

Balak ko pa kasi tawaran eh..
