    Hi to all,
3 months ago, nakabili kami ng Nissan B12, almost in excellent condition pa naman siya including body except sa minsan may ingay sa engine niya lalo pag mainit na. Sabi nung 2 shop na napuntahan ko baka daw timing chain and prepare daw ako more or less 4K. Looking at the cars records, last September 2008 lang napalitan yung timing chain/guides niya (complete record niya sa mga shop at casa including JO). Ganon ba kabilis masira yun or needs adjustment lang siya.
One more is yung tune up niya? ano yung sinasabing self adjustment?
    Thanks in advance

well, at its age you can't really expect it to run quiet like it did when it was new. an old engine will have lots of rattles/squeaks/vibrations.

if there's nothing wrong with it, or hindi naman tumitirik/overheat at 1 click pa din ang start, well, i suggest you leave it alone. you can try changing the oil to 20w-50 ordinary mineral, it could help silence the valvetrains a bit.

if sobrang ingay at parang may gumagamit ng typewriter sa loob, get the valve adjustments adjusted professionally, i.e., sa casa or a specialist shop.

medyo subjective kasi yung term na "ingay", lalo na sa newbie drivers. ang maingay sa kanila tahimik sa ibang matagal na nagddrive (because we've all heard much, much worse).

Di naman siya yung tipong tunog typewriter, a little softer than that naman but comparing with other car same as its age ,medyo iba ang tunog niya.

Last tune-up/change oil niya is january using synthetic oil.

Although di naman siya nag-ooverheat o tumitirik or hard starting, medyo annoying lang kasi yung sound and napapansin lagi. One more is baka may tama na nga sa timing chain/guide eh lalo pang lumala or mandamay pa.

Hi there, I also own an early model b12. From what i know the engine uses a timing belt, and if it was replaced including the tensioner, it is designed to work for about 100000km. About the "self-adjustment", I haven't heard anything like it expecially for older cars like ours. Tune-ups should be done regularly, preferably every 3 months or 5000km. Can you explain the noise that you hear? I would recommend checking your oil level and quality. Engines experienciing minor oil starvation will become noisy.

Chain po siya, see pics below

ok pa naman po yung oil level and quality

yung tunog niya is parang tsak tsak tsak. hehehe.. di naman yung tunog na matinis or metal to metal. Navivisualize ko nga is parang maluwag yung chain at sumasayad siya sa wall nung engine

Ganun nga po sana kaso Laguna pa siya pinaginawa nung original owner, nasa pampanga na ito ngayon. Im planning to have it open na kaya im looking for some advise if what needs to be done/replace if ever and yung estimated price na rin sana. Minimum of 6 hours daw pag binuksan ito and labor is nasa 1K na
