My friend is planning to buy a Nissan Safari. Since im also interested to have one i would like to seek your expert advise on what to look at when buying this kind of vehicle? i know that its quite high to maintain but i still like it. i hope you can give me some idea so i can help my friend find a good one. Thanks in advance!
Interior panels, door grab handles are prone to damage. Rear sliding window rattles (on selected models). Check front hubs if it's still working and 4WD mode. Sometimes the diif lock acts strange if turned on.
More to follow, and you might also be able to add some if you can drop by at Chowking Fort parking area this Sunday (August 15th) at around 04:00PM (1600hrs.). The rest of the Patrol guys are planning to meet there. :D
if your planning to use it off road. make sure da unit your getting has the factory lockers. there are some models that don't have it. it make a world of difference when you get stuck.
another thing. make sure that there are no rust on and under the body.
Thanks for inviting me at the fort. kaso nakakahiya yata pumunta kasi wala pa ako pambili ng safari. ipon pa muna.
Sir Mintoy,
This is one great inputs. But what do you mean by factory lockers? how can i test it just in case? Sana you can give more features that is unique to this kind of vehicle and that needs attention for buyers.
behind the second 2nd row seat sa flooring check for rust. yun may screw kanakabitan ng body sa chassis. yun side ng dual air, sa fix window baka may rust din. see if you can turn the locking nut sa front wheels. check the shocks. test drive it. pag medyo maalon baka sira na ang shocks. don't be discourage about these little things. basta ok ang engine and bargain ang price get it. hindi mataas ang maintenance ng patrol. you'll be surprise that it has less expensive parts than an suv with IFS.

I started looking for a safari 3 to 4 months ago ..... may budget lang ako so pang 93-94 model lang na safari kaya ko.
Tagal ko naghanap kc i want a unit na kahit a bit old ay sariwa and may potential .... i mean pag na detail interiror and exterion ... lalabas yun ganda.
Finally, I was able to find one 1st week of July .... it's a 93 model ... dual air, walang rust, never nabangga .... sariwa yun interior and seats ...except for the interior door handles and leather sa sidings .... which i replaced and repaired myself....jap version yun 2-tone nya ... so i spent a little ...ginawa kong euro? .... engine and 4wd is ok too ...
Yun lang ... patience is a virtue talaga .... if you want to find an ok car that fits your budget.... tiyaga lang.....
