I'll be attending a forum on motorcycles and the road, particularly road safety and i'd like to solicit your opinions about motorcycles on the road.

Good or bad opinions would be highly appreciated as this will pave way for possible policy with government officials attending as well as representatives from international organizationsl.

Feel free to speak as the youth and as motorists and think of this as an opportunity to give voice on your opinion on the matter.

No lane splitting if the speed of the main traffic is around 30km/h and above already.

In Taiwan, scooters are limited to the rightmost lane (2 lanes kung malapad na kalye). Mga big bike naman, pwede kahit saan.

    Dapat ganun din sa atin.

    We need:
    1. A very very strict enforcement of the helmet law and mirror law.

    2. Clearly defined motorcycle lanes (for safety's sake).

    3. A removal of explicit and implicit exemptions that make no sense. Exemptions for motorcycles and tricycles on certain one-way streets (lazy enforcement... motorcycles are not so much a problem in this case as tricycles are, since tricycles take up 2/3rds of a lane). Also, exemptions from no-U-turn and no-left-turn signs that enforcers seem to give simply because they can't enforce compliance. Seems a modus operandi, as I've seen quite a few cars apprehended at poorly labelled or unlabelled "no left turn" slots because they were following a motorcycle in... and the ban on scooters on the highways is patently useless since so many are starting to sneak onto the SLEX already.

    4. Proper education of PUV drivers on road safety... for the sake of motorcyclists. How many times have a seen a rider go over because a jeep pulled in right in front of him or stopped in the middle of two lanes, right in front of a motorcyclist?

    5. Better education of scooter riders, and maybe stricter testing. May mga disenteng scooterista diyan... but there are so many more uneducated, first time riders giving them a bad reputation and everyone a hard time. Maybe make attendance at a riding course a requirement for licensure.

    -----

Personally, I don't mind so much the fact that people have back riders... it's just proper education on the riding itself, and the assurance that they wear proper riding equipment.

It would also be good to promote track events and games for scooteristas... as a safe way for them to blow-off steam and help them learn riding safety and control.

I agree on this! Would you also include the implementation of the yellow lane! bus drivers would have a hard time noticing bikes lalo na dito sa edsa. just to make the roads safer for bikers at para hindi na rin mag-lane split eh dapat enforce ang yellow lane ng mabuti. buses should only stick inside the yellow lane

Ban noisy pipes - its useless , if you want to get notice just use the horn.
    Ban Children on motorcycles....
Ban ***y motorcyclist - hazardous for both pedestrian and motorist.

that's good, at least you'll be better aware of how cars behave or the other way around if you're a full time driver and none of a rider...

riding a motorcycle or a car is solely not just for fun but holds a huge responsibility. nothing more important than getting there safely than rushing your way then end up in accident, we dont want that. another tip is never drive pag mainit ang ulo, take a moment to pull over and relax. though this is hard to beat lalo na pag inipit ka sa daan, but nothing can stop you from reacting so but yourself, think of the outcome, does it really worth the fight? if wala namang nasaktan. also planning your journey helps you to have a safer trip. like finding a safer road to take and much lesser traffic time.

For me,- a dedicated lane for the motorcycles. Right now, they're road hazards because they can go anywhere... Of course, strict traffic enforcement to make sure they stay in their lane and the 4-wheel vehicles do not stray in their designated lane, even if it's heavy traffic.

some riders who have no driving experience are mostly
who are road hazards coz they didnt learn road courtesy, discipline and patience di gaya ng driving you will learn all of them.
kaya mas maganda kung driver muna before becoming a rider..just like me ganun ako..mas mahirap ang motor kumpara sa tsikot para sakin,,
sa motor kasi magbabalanse kapa at mas dangerous and accident prone,,

better for riders to always use helmet malayo or malapit man,, ako pag minsan di nko naghehelmet pag malapit lang coz i want to feel the air kasi nakakasawa ang air con and its up to you na din kung gusto mo maghelmet..much better to always use it..

loud pipes talagang nakakairita yan pero safe factor yan sa riders kasi malalaman ng mga drivers na may motor especially those trucks, bus and other super big 16th (or more)wheeler truck..it also adds acceleration and speed sa motor kaya nka open/loud pipes..
much better din sa rider kung nka open headlight sila kahit daytime for them to be visible coz they are small and hard to notice
much better din sa tsikot/cage to open their headlights/foglights for more visibility lalo na sa bus and trucks,,ganun din ako pag nka tsikot/cage
(for some reason feeling ko naka motor ako kahit naka cage)

always fasten helmet, wear jackets para hindi mangitim at ginawin,,pag talagang mainit hindi nko nagjajacket kaya yun minsan nangingitim ako,,
use safety gears kung meron and ride safe

1 pass only pangalawa ang driver

but the speed and the lane, no limit

in 2005, 21motorcycle accident occur puro encounter with othe vehicle
in 2006, 18motorcycle accident with same case...

advise ko lang if you drive motorcycle ( single ) apat na party ng bike ang tingnan mo, it doesnt mean maingat ka sa pagmamaneho mo... wlang aksedinte....

    look at
    Harap
    left
    right
    back

WHY DO MOTORCYCLES RIDE SO CLOSE TO THE YELLOW LINE? | SlashGear

There are two main reasons why motorcyclists ride close to the yellow line: to see and to be seen. Riding a motorcycle always requires making decisions based on what's happening around you on the road. The best angle for you to observe the road ahead, is by riding close to the yellow line.
