okay guys, i got my hands on a gen 2 pajero 2.5 tdic with 87,000 kms on it. i took it to the mitsubishi dealer and already had them replace the timing belt and the waterpump (leaking na). also changed the oil and told them to do a general check up.

what else do you guys suggest i have done/checked since I am not quite sure of the service history of this vehicle. it runs well naman, but i just want to make sure everything is in tiptop shape. I am going to check din the diesel consumption, for provincial driving (no traffic) what should i be hitting? 9 to 11 kms per liter?

thanks in advance for your help.

Replace all fluids and gear oils, kasi hindi ka sure kung kelan last pinalitan ito.

do you have AT or MT? With my AT at that engine speed, i'd be travelling at around 110+ kph already

    thanks,

Hmmm. For 3000 rpm in fifth gear i'd be travelling at around 100kph na with my 4D56TDIc dati. Pero naka wastegate mod yung sa akin eh so increased power at those revs.

thanks pajerokid, i will be doing the wastegate (yun ba yung washer mod?) mod when my friend who owns mitsubishi gensan arrives next week. gusto ko kasi na siya ang gumawa para may "warranty" hehehe

did you also have an aftermarket air filter on your old 4d56 tdic?

    thanks,

    andy

5th gear 3000rpm, u should be hitting100kph to 110 then rev it to 4000rpm u should be hitting 120kph na then rev mo til 4500rpm, la na yun dapat 140kph na, max na yun.....dahandahan mo lang, wag biglain. if u want change ka filter, me simota lang with regular cleaning, mas ok yung takbo ng makina.

thanks for the replies. i will be checking my clutch next week. medyo may problema ata because at idle, maingay ng konti but when you depress the clutch, it becomes relatively quiet. do you guys know what that means?

i am also going to do the wastegate mod and if i run into some money, shift to a finer filter.

is there anything in the engine that i need to clean/replace in order to get better mileage or lower rpms? thanks guys, target ko lang is 100 kph at 3000 rpm 5th gear.

and di naman ako lumalampas ng 3500 rpm, so hopefully my mileage will be in the region of 9 to 10 km/liter. any advice on how to achieve those parameters? nasa probinsya ako, so walang traffic.

Common clutch bearing sign. May mali sa mounting process nito. Malamang sa piniokpok para lumapat ng tama. Not much of a problem though, it will last longer just the same with clutch disc. Maiirita ka nga lang sa ingay. What you can do temporarily is rev above 1,500rpm, place gear in neutral then release clutch pedal.

thanks ungas. ipa check ko yung sinabi mo sa friend ko next week. okay naman sya sa shifting, maingay lang kung naka-idle. i came from driving a gasoline car pa naman, so medyo di pa sanay sa ingay.

do you guys think that my parameters are realistic? to recap:

    1) ability to cruise in fifth gear at 3000 rpm hitting 100 kph
    2) ability to attain 9 to 10 kph, given that rpm never goes above 3500 and walang traffic dito sa Gen. Santos City

unit is a 1997 pajero 2.5 liter tdic with 87000 kms

    thanks for the help,

    andy

Your first parameter is accurate, but i have doubts on the second.

Of course there are a lot of factors which affect fuel economy. If you go really long distances sans traffic in your daily travel, i think the 10km/l is achievable.

When i used to work in alabang (no traffic, all highway), the best mileage i got was at around 9.3km/L.

thanks for the reply pajerokid. i will work on the first parameter muna and then see if the second will follow. I just got 7.5 km/l for my first full tank. let's see if it improves.

there is a betan calibratiuon outfit in davao that is offering carbon cleaning for P2500 and it will take 2 to 3 hours day. is this a reliable outfit? is it worth it to carbon clean? and plan ko talaga is to have mitsu check my fuel delivery system and then carbon clean right before is start adding biodiesel.

    what do you guys think?

Betan is quite a reputable shop. Doc Diesel (a Kotse.com and Tsikot.com poster) ran Betan Calibration when he was still in the Philippines. It is their family business.
