finally, i have th money to buy my first (second-hand) car. A friend's friend was selling his 1997 Mitsubishi Lancer GL for 240K. Is it a fair price? I don't know much about cars and stuffs so i'm prone to "maloko".. it's not that I doesn't trust my friend but i need opinion on the price. The car looks nice.

Specs: 1500cc, 16 valve, Red, with CD Changer, new batteries, modified front bumper (extended, US version), Orig colors, power steering (only), new tires. My friend's mechanic says the the engine looks okey. we were able to test drive it just today and so far the car's condition is good.

I'm just worrie about the price.

medyo malakas sa gas yan, 1500 na carb type. why not get a 96 civic lsi, at least fuel injected siya kaya mas matipid sa gas kahit 1500 cc yung engine. opinion ko lang.

at that price? actual budget ko is 200K pero i can only go as far as 220K pero nagustuhan ko na ang car kaya langi need to extend my budget.. but now you're giving me second thoughts.. pero medyo mahal ang civic di ba?

and thanks pala happy gilmore.. you also replied to my first post here.. i was asking for a car (but actually looking of a lancer pizza pie) worth 250K.. I didn't find any corolla's at my budget's range. I prefer the GLi pero nung nakita ko ang pizza pie na ito.. nagustuhan ko na. It's the right price that i'm trying to be sure.

at 200k, you can get a 97 pizza EL or 95-96 GLXi's, or 96-97 Mazda Familias (this is my best bet).. or a 94-96 Corolla GLi.

for sure, yung 200k mo, its an old model Civic (92-94).

With 220K and if you're ona budget, it might be more feasible to scout for a 97 1.3L Corolla.

You can also find 97 Sentra 1.6's for that price... I think pwede pang bawasan yung 240K... 190-215K would be a more realistic price for a 97' GL IMO...

thanks vinj, but i'm eyeing at a lancer talaga eh... although karamihan ng nag-sa-suggest specially sa mga "baguhang" katulad ko eh to get a toyota pero dami na kasing toyota eh.. kung kaya ko nga lang eh civic kukunin ko pero (97-up) pero liit lang pera ko kaya lancer muna. So you think 240K is too much? kahit na maayos ang lahat? mileage is less than 50K

the mechanic said na maayos na maayos ang makina at pati pangilalim eh orig pa ang undercoat at malinis na malinis pa, i'm actually planning to sell it after 2 years siguro.. just making sure na kung sakali i can re-sell it atleast sa hindi talong halaga with the things i'm planning to add like mag wheels, install a sound system atleast at pa-power windows ko. Plus na yung red ang kulay ng auto since i'm planning to get a red, yellow or black, otherwise papapalitan ko. Pero tatawaran ko nga :-)

There's a good reason behind that if i may just add.

At the end of the day, go with what your comfy with... I think you can still bring down the price since 240K is a bit on the high side for that model IMO. 50K is also quite low for the mileage of a car that old so check for service records and the like. Especially if your friend's friend is in the buy and sell business or if he's not the first owner anymore.

    Goodluck.

yung milage kase sa odometer pwede i-rollback yan, saka hindi rin accurate gauge yan ng condition ng car. merung mataas na yung mileage pero sariwa pa rin kase well maintained. about the corolla, nagkalat talaga sa kalye yun, pero ang advantage mas maraming parts kaya mas mura maintenance. saka mahal na gas ngayun kaya advisable 1.3L na carb, diesel, or 1.5/1.6 na EFI.
