2.8 int-turbo for GENI Paj?

Anyone tried to put in a GEN I Pajero the 2.8l intercooler turbo engine from a gen 2.5?

Anyone have an idea how much a surplus engine like this would cost?

I'm thinking of doing my next project car like this if possible...

Stripped down Gen I SWB (looking for a fixer-uper)
2.8 int-turbo upgrade (or any engine that would fit)
2" lift with 33" tires

Want to spend as little as possible.

Theoretically possible po yan.

Pajero Diesels..

Gen1 = 4D55 and 4D56

Gen2 = 4D56 and 4M40

Gen3 = 4M40 and 4M41

as you can see, meron pong overlap. of course, the engines mounts and hoses and stuff may be slightly different, but the engine blocks are the same. so sizewise, the engine will fit.

With the ingenuity of our pinoy "Engineers" im sure they will find a way to shoehorn the 2.8 into the gen1. Nakakta na nga ako ng BMW 3 series coupe na naka Toyota Supra egine before e :D

may gen1 pajero 3dr surplus here in our place with a 4M4O engine orig niya. coil springs rear suspension. so i guess pwede.

would you know if kasya ang old transmission or kailangan kasama yung para sa 2.8?

Dami na ko nakita na us version na 2.6 pero really cheap. lakas sa gas so really good idea to change the engine to diesel. Pang project car lang so I'm even looking at the soft tops.

Are the gen I pajeros lighter than the the genII's? I'm trying to figure out how much faster these things can get.

hindi ata pwede lumang transmission mo kung papalit ka ng 4m40. and less sakit sa ulo pagka kasama na ang transmission na bibilhin mo.

ironarch:: I suggest you get an engine WITH the intercooler assy. Problem is, i havent seen one in the surplus shops with one. All i came across was the turboed version only. Yup. 4d56 is the 2.5L engine. Maybe tebs can help you out.
