Adventure 2001 (4D56): Weird sound from dashboard

Hi Peeps,

Pls help me out on my problem, I got Adventure '01 with 4D56 engine.

My problem is that kapag tumatakbo na sya, there's a continuos sound coming from the dashboard (parang tunog roleta na umiikot) and it keeps getting louder when shifting to higher gears. I'm suspecting its coming from the odometer kasi tuwing nananakbo lang naman may sound, pero pag full stop wala na even if I rev hard.

Does anyone here had this experience on their advie? Napa-praning na kasi ako. Would want to visit a mechanic really soon pero bago ko sana dalhin is makakuha ng idea from here.

aha sir baka odometer mo yung ??? yung nag papaikot sa speed odometer ang alam ko hindi sensor ang speedometer mo?

I believe it was not a sensor...yung sound is parang mechanical ung origin when I observe it. So far okay nman manakbo no problem whatsoever except for that weird sound.

Anyways, dalhin ko this weekend sa trusted mechanic ko.

I had the same experience. I traced it to the speedometer cable. Never really solved it though, but i reduced that funny ticking sound by adjusting the angle of the cable.

Pero funny thing, is good and working naman odometer ko. Even had a comparison with my brod's car when we drove off to NLEX last week, di nman nagkakalayo readings nila.

Had it lessened though when I did the same thing, pero still praning pa din ako hehe. Sabi ng mekaniko, palitin na daw ung cable.
