New multi-purpose vehicle for the Indonesian market

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) today announced that it would launch sales of Maven, a new multi-purpose vehicle in Indonesia on September 15. Maven will be supplied by Suzuki on an OEM basis and sold via MMC's Indonesian distributor P.T. Krama Yuha Tiga Berlian Motors.

Maven employs the body of APV, which is produced by Suzuki's local subsidiary, with a partially altered exterior design. Maven is fitted with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine produced by MMC's local engine production partner P.T. Mitsubishi Krama Yudha Motors and Manufacturing (*2). Suzuki's OEM production volume will be a maximum of 12,000 units per year.

Mitsubishi Motors and Suzuki first cooperated in Indonesia in the co-development of a small commercial vehicle (*3) launched in 1991. The new OEM supply agreement is the second cooperative project with Suzuki in Indonesia. With the addition of Maven to the lineup, MMC anticipates new customer expansion in the market.

Haaaay naku..... parang sa US ida-drive yung APV kaya anemic??!?!?!

Uso yata ngayon ang hiraman..... yung Chevy Optra ngayon galing din ng Daewoo.... usually, eto ginagawa ng mga car manufacturer to buy them time para sa in-house na ginagawa nilang 'ka-level' na kotse. Like for example yung Isuzu Trooper na hiniram ng Honda (rebadged as SLX) since hindi pa totally gawa yung MDX nila na una nilang in-house SUV (although my CR-V na sila nun). Baka naman may ginagawa ang Mitsu na ala-APV den pero mas malaki ang improvement kesa APV (tulad ng ginawa ng Honda).

LOL. Though if they sold it much cheaper than the APV, it'd be a candidate for our company's upcoming plan to replace all the company cars. Our VP says she prefers to have a fleet of diesel AUVs and diesel vans than to have a fleet of 1.3 compact cars.

Ganyan na talaga ang market ngayon. Badge engineering. So it pays to know the pedigree of the vehicle you are considering.
