2 hours? WoW! thats something new about the steering column in our platform.....because all of the bosb's that I was able to talk too with such problems were told that they had to leave their units for at least overnight.....and by then I thought I was the fastest because it took me a half day just to get mine fixed....then there was you sir MR....
can you please sight some differences between the old and the new column?
TIA

Oh this is the culprit when i back read. The shirt inside my montero smells smoke after a few days. Not like my other SUV, even one month Caoat inside the car will not get smell like smoke.
I will test by not using the third row aircon for a while. i will post update after a week.

January 7th, 2010 11:19 AM #396Thanks bro. But what worries me is not much the smell per se. It is the health hazard. I will try incense smoking later. i will keep you posted.
Also, i notice the flooring where the clips of the stepboard and the siding/walling plastic can be seen protruding from the underchasis floor. Try a highpresure water host under it and the water enters the cabin. I will posrt the pictures next time.

Sorry for this late reply
unfortunately I didn't have at hand even my celfone's cam but the box of the 'new' steering column had 'Made In Thailand' marked on it. As for the new column itself, I noticed that the shaft joints had orange paint marks on them; probably to distinguish it from the defective ones?
They noted the replacement on my warranty booklet then they reset my odo's Trip A(?).
Well they started at 9am then they were putting back the steering wheel by 11am so that's about 2 hours. I guess they got so used to replacing the darn thing that they have achieved a masters degree hehehe. I was there the other day to accompany my cousin in getting her new Strada and I saw one unit, they say it was nearly a year old, having the same replacement.

ahh I see then sir.....I myself had already undergone this steering column replacement about 5 months ago I think....but the replacement column that was put in is still the old version....so now I'm a bit worried about it because the knocking sound might come back again...that's why I'm always talking to my truck saying that "kung tutunog ulit yang column mo, agahan mo na...habang under warranty pa" hehehe....So now the good thing is that well, I know now that there's this so called ultimate fix already and it doesn't take too long for it to be replaced...
and for that...I want to thank you for the great news sir MR...
BTW sir...please send my invitation to your cousin on joining us in TSCP...TIA

Ah yes sir locoroco, hindi pa nga dumating yung unit nya I told them already about TSCP and its provincial chapters (we live in the Visayas).
I might be able to post some pics of her unit soon. Dang that truck looks so good in black!
Same here, I hope that if ever the column breaks down again it would be within the warranty period kasi by the looks of it parang mahal na part yan eh
I guess I better start talking to it too :hihihi:
All the best sir.
