New Mitsubishi Pajero edges closer | Torquecafe

The two-stage turbo variant of the 4n16 engine is bad for the local market, since being euro v means having a dpf which is prone to clogging issues. Several owners of the new triton athlete 4x4 have reported about it.
Sad to say I am not a fan of the "pinalaking" Destinator design. Mitsu could have done better.
Early Euro 5 and up adopters will have to contend with the downsides of having a DPF. But on the bright side, this might eventually open up services that offer off-vehicle DPF cleaning.... much like EGR/intake cleaning services that boomed when Euro 2-4 Diesel engines got to a certain age.
IIRC early models of the 2nd-gen Montero Sport had DPF. I got a chance to drive a loaner from Mitsubishi and it went into a regen cycle while we were driving along SLEX. Did they remove the DPF afterwards because it wasn't actually required yet?
Everest 2nd-gen also has DPF. My mom was complaining that it was revving and belching white smoke daw on warm startup/idle but it was obviously a regen cycle.

It’s become a running joke that the exhaust from a Euro 6 diesel engine can actually be cleaner, at least in terms of particulate matter, than the air in many congested cities. To a certain extent, you'll be cleaning the air of particulates just by driving it around town. lol.. The irony.
