"Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corp. (MMPC) will stop local production of the Lancer when it moves to its new plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna in January 2015"

I guess no more staggering price discounts (as much as 95k for the GLX variant) for the Lancer EX next year ?
What does this mean for EX owners? Higher maintenance parts? Sayang, kung kelan pa naman gumaganda ang sales ng Lancer.

I remember nung nabaha yung planta ng Honda sa Thailand. CBU Japan yung Jazz na dinala dito. Mas maganda yung specs, but with corresponding price increase.

Hindi kaya gradual phaseout na ito ng Lancer worldwide, since balita ko the Evo X will be the last of its kind?

Well the Lancer has poor sales naman e overall in the local market and PHL made Lancers are sold just here and are not for export. So I think its just a simple business decision of lack of "economies of scale"...

^^^ Still not viable. Lack of government incentives, cheaper to produce in Thailand or Indonesia.

I fail to comprehend why this would mean higher maintenance costs? We still have the 97 Lancer (Pizza Pie) and there are no scarcity of parts. Toyota and Mitsubishi spare parts are always available outside CASA. The only part we were forced to source at CASA was the filter for AT fluid for my Lancer but that's about it and I don't expect to buy another AT fluid filter as you only need to replace AT fluid filter only once in a car's lifetime and more modern cars nowadays don't even need AT fluid replacement anymore as they claim it's already good for the car's lifetime w/c is why no need for dipstick for AT fluids anymore.

Noone buys the Lancer EX nowadays anyway.

Haven't seen a new one on the road sporting W-series plates (last of the Rizal series), much less the new LTO plates.

Mitsubishi has revealed that they are not developing a successor for the Lancer as the Japanese company shifts their focus on SUVs.

In a report by CarAdvice, Mitsubishi President and Chief Operating Officer Tetsuro Aikawa said that the development of sedans is not part of their plan. Aikawa added that this situation is unlikely to change as long as he’s the company’s boss.

“Unfortunately, for a while we are not planning any development of sedans. While I’m the president probably no introduction of the next-generation Lancer…we will continue to sell current Lancer,” said Aikawa.

With this, Mitsubishi intends to invest in developing SUVs, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles. Aikawa also said that the Japanese automaker won’t produce a new Lancer because of the highly competitive sedan segment which would result into difficulty to come up with a profit.

Wow. So the Mitsubishi Lancer ends it's illustrious run with the current gen? Sad....I wish Mitsubishi kept up with Subaru in terms of development of their passenger sedans, like what Subaru did with the Impreza. Then again, economics and profit margins dictate what big companies do moving forward....

With our Philippine-made Ford, it was the same thing... they had to order from the plant. And even with production going full blast, unusual parts, like body panels or cosmetic trim, took weeks to source... just like with cars built elsewhere.

Even with local production, sub-assemblies come from all over, and they're earmarked for use on the production line, so you can't just buy them from the dealer or expect quick delivery from the plant.

And whether or not Lancer production continues here, spare parts availability outside will still continue, all the same.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

correct me if i am wrong but the montero and most likely the strada actually require to change atf at 60t kms.
for the first gen honda city/jazz cvt even they now require atf changed every 20t kms to avoid transmission issues. previously it was also required every 60t kms.

There might be some truth to that, since even the Mirage G4 has bigger trunk space than the Lancer.
