I need help. I have 2 balikbayan friends who are in town and I feel like I need to bring them somewhere for a few beers on a weekday. Any suggestions? Yung relatively tahimik and maybe something different for thirty something year olds.

I'm clueless as I rarely go out nowadays and with a young family, malls and play places are all I know right now. Suggestions much appreciated.

Tagaytay for the cool weather, lush scenery and plenty of places to eat like the Mahogany Market for bulalo and tawilis. A quick getaway to bring your balikbayan friends.

How about at home (at the front or back porch) with cases of beer, pork, shrimp, crab, chicken, all grilled, of course. Widescreen TV with sports or whatever broadcasts are available.

That's what I told my cousins about what I want when I visit next time. Why put up with traffic? At home is the best.

How I wish I could that too for family gatherings and such. Unfortunately, most houses here don't have wide spaces for barbecues. Most don't have a yard because they've extended their walls as far as the perimeter of their lot would allow.

Unless of course, you live in one of the more affluent villages.

Back on topic. I agree with Tagaytay. Don't forget to check the weather.

Are you going to Tagaytay for dinner and drinks there after or just drinks?

Why not ask them where they wanna go, kahit general idea lang: mall, sightseeing, food trip...

    Thanks for the suggestions!

MoA = Mall of Angono? Mall of Angeles? Too crowded for them, I think.

Antipolo and Tagaytay are out, too tiring on a weekday na balikan lang. Malamang ako na naman driver, di na kasi sanay mga yun magdrive dito.

I like the idea of seafood by the bay. I'll bring that up as an option. By different I don't mean anything radical like Robot Restaurant naman. Maybe anything interesting to see. If I had my way I'd just have grilled food and poker or blackjack at home. But staying in isn't possible as I have small kids na hihilahin ako if they see me at home.

Brewery at the Palace looks good. Looks a bit much for laid back guys like us though. What's the music like?

The brewery at the palace, global city. Good beer, good food, reasonable price. Try the sausage platter.
