I have bakal feet so my shoes don't last long

The oldest in my closet are Birkenstocks which I've had since the mid 90s I think. I have not worn it for 20 yrs but I couldn't get myself to throw it away because it still looks good.

I should have an Oct 2016 Adidas Bounce, pero I can't seem to find it.

So technically, oldest shoe on my cabinet is a Oct 2018 Nike Hurrache which I feel is retiring this year.

I stopped "collecting" shoes way in the early 2000's. I realized na kahit anong ingat mo sa kanya, it will later fail (kukunat yung rubber/sasabog yung "Air")

Mendrez brown leader shoes...more than 20 yrs old...still usable but unused for years...real leather...and sobrang kunat considering na hindi ako ingat sa paggamit nun...kahit mabsa okay lang sa akin...twice changed yung rubber soles...

Black Rusty Lopez leather shoes I used in my wedding almost 17 years ago....pwedeng pwede pa....napa repair lang yung soles kasi lumutong na...very usable pa up to now...naka gamit ko pa sa graduation ko sa Japan in 2012

i have a rockport that's ... dunno when i bought it na tuloy.
more than 5 years na.. mebbe 10..
humiwalay na yung sole, so i had the cobbler sew it back and not just rely on glue.

My oldest is a pair of Gibi formal shoes, which I bought for my daughter's college graduation, I've worn it I think 4 times only. I'm basically a rubber shoes guy when I was still working, but shifted to loafers when I retired at 45.

I still have old shoes from way back 90's. a few pair of Cole-Haans, 2 pairs of Ralph Lauren leather shoes.
i placed them in a box with one of those silica gels.
Havn't worn any of them except for one of the cole haan boots that i sometimes use when it rains.

I assume your leather shoes doesn't have rubber soles? Rubber soles nga ba yun? I think mine was a hush puppies that I've kept in the box unused for years. Nung gamitin ko ulit half way to the event eh nakita ko nag crumble na yung soles, had to go back to the house to change.

Pinaka sad ko eh Nike Air max 90. Something like this. I kept it in a box used it sparingly so it would last long. After few years it crumbles. Sayang at mukhang bago pa. Dapat ginamit ko na lang ng ginamit.

the weave is good. the rubber sold is good.
    but the glue!
twice already, did the sole separate from the upper.
and i was barely using the shoe.

exact reason why I started making a log for my shoes...

during my younger days, favorite shoes ko was a Penny 1. sumabog yung airmax nya while we were walking sa Binondo

tapos during a New Year celebration naman, natanggal yung sole nung Reebok Zig ko. the sole was almost 2 inches tall kaya the whole event di pantay legs ko.

even during marathons, makikita mo na madaming casual runners na natanggalan ng sole

I had to throw away several rubber shoes because it became brittle/cracked. Will silica gel prevent that from happening too?

some rubber formulations are really prone to crumbling prematurely.
    google.

i had three pairs of a popular imported brand.
all of them crumbled within two years of purchase.

Alam ko the silica gel is for the leather in the shoes, gamit din siya for leather goods, Bags, etc. prevents molds. Don't know if it will help with the rubber shoes.
all of my rubber shoes from the 90's have cracked soles already even those with genuine leather upper. Longest rubber shoes i had was around 10 years but the soles starts to crack at year 8 or 9.
not sure what you can do to prevent the cracking of the soles.

So tahi ang solusyon nila.

Dati nagpagawa ako rubber shoes sa mr quickie sa ATC, tinahi nila. Pero originally hindi sya tahi, so somehow lumiit ang size nya dahil sa tahi. Hindi na magkasya sa paa ko nung bumalik na. I had to gave it away to someone with smaller feet.

i have somewhat of a duck feet syndrome.
    malapad.
as such, my shoe size of choice is somewhat the next larger size.
kahit tinahi, ay ok pa rin my shoes.

    before kasi,
i would "pretend my feet were smaller than they were", and got "just the right size shoes", at least in the store they were.
but i noticed, my socks would develop holes...
well, ever since i went to the habit of getting the next larger size, the socks didn't develop holes anymore.

Makes me wonder ano ginagawa ng mga rubber shoes collector. Do they collect and never wear it ever? Since in a few years time the rubber will start to crumble.
