I have experienced that for the first 10 years of my marriage. If I look back now, you know what I hink It”s all a big F’in waste of money. Those friends after 10 years from now regardless if binigyan mo ng expensive gift before, will be a source of stress or negstivity coz gsnun eh, either kaasaran ni misis yun wife or yun guy itself niyayabangan ka

Good luck juts. Thats why puro diesels car ko ngaun and low maintenance hihi.

bad things happen when primitives mingle with ex-primitives. ...usually, to the primitives.
primitives have to earn the right to mingle with the ex-primitives, lest they destroy themselves with the very gifts the ex-primitives may shower them with.

    "the prime directive."
    pa-unang panuntunan.
    regla numero uno (honest!).

He did so well there that eventually, he became the GM, travels all over the world to meet pharma producers. Given SUVs every 5 years. He now lives in La Vista & has a home in NZ since his kids studied & now works there. It’s a combination of luck, being at the right place at the right time, good decision & great EQ:IQ ratio.
Another friend who works for AMKOR Phl was so good, he was a regional sales head in SEA & goes around SEA 3-4 days of the week. Promoted to Sales head in Asia. After a year, asked to head an office in the US. He goes back to the Phl every weekend then back to US Monday. After a few months, he got tired of it & asked the office if he can just bring his family along. Pumayag naman, so till now, they are in the US.
These guys are normal guys who made their money through hard work, but not by hard work alone. They had the smarts & luck to go with it.

There will always be outliers. I've also seen my fair share of rags to riches stories - one of which is my closest mentors who fits in the typical probinsyanong mahirap turned business tycoon mold.

But these are outliers, the 0.1%. If you pragmatically look at averages - people from favorable backgrounds tend to start higher and climb faster up the financial success ladder than those from meager means. Talent, grit and education somewhat equalizes the playing field, but only ever so slightly.

I don't count gifts given or received - what matters most to me are the relationships I have with my truest friends.

This is a picture from our wedding, one of the few times when everyone from my high school barkada was present.

Our friendship has lasted for over a decade - and we've gone from clueless teenagers to curious college students to working professionals, with all the ups and downs in between.
It wasn't the gifts they gave that I cherished the most, but their presence. Some of them had to fly halfway around the world to be there, some had to take on 3 consecutive 36-hour residency duties to free up the weekend, some had to miss other big events - all to show their support for us on our most special day.

I hope that you also have that solid set of friends to count on, minicarph. [emoji4]

Reminds me of the course in CRC, EM ata, forgot kasi bata pa ko nung 80s and 90s haha. But men only and the students were mostly wealthy talaga.
