    i liked pride.
i almost bought one, back then.
it reminded me of the air-cooled VW in its simplicity.

At the time when cars did only 7-9 kms/lit, here comes this small car that did 16.

    maybe OT.. maybe not..

sometimes, a new car's sales can be manipulated by the "we-bulong" movement.
a former person in the industry confessed, "when the sentra was introduced in the local market, we intentionally bad-mouthed it, so's it won't sell so well".
as a result, pag lumagutok ang suspension, thru ordinary wear and tear or otherwise, the event was amplified by the whisperings of "i told you so".

I’m guessing, from Toyota? Sentra did so well then, cut well into the sales of Toyota. Cheap, quality build cars. Interiors are so well made, not leatherette. Intro’d the first 16 valve cars. After that, everyone followed suit.

    nopo. not from toyota.
and there were only two manufacturers, back then.

i was in line for the corolla. but as there was a very very long line, because toyota had this special discount offer at that time, i crossed over to the sentra.
after a while of ownership, i realized the sentra was actually, to me, the better car.
and many years later, the onlines said that the corolla's engine and the sentra's engine, back then, proved to be in the top three of someone's list of the most reliable engines, ever.
suspension wear and tear? pareho lang kami ni kapatid, who had a honda.

Is this the box type sentra, sir? How did the paint job stand up through the years in yours, sir? I've heard original owners complain that the paint job in theirs faded in less than 5 years ownership. A friend's aunt confirms this because hers -- a silver color -- faded faster than her amiga's older box type lancer. In short, they regretted getting the sentra over the lancer back then.

And I'm not sure if these came with power windows early on, but there was a 5 door version right, with power windows, maybe came out later, which another owner told me that the power switches on those melted under our noonday sun. That was how bad they described the quality control on these vehicles were. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I got those straight from the owners mouths themselves, so they were at least reliable sources and not just made up rumors.

He mentioned "sabi sa mga forum" and I thought of the same, if he visits tsikot. Hehe.

Ang galing niya kasi he finds a way to resurface sa internet through unique idea and storytelling (plus tapping into nostalgia). If you read the comments section, ang daming natutuwa sa new vlogs niya may mga requests pa na ifeature yung mga old cars nila.

We had three model Sentras, the SGX, the entry level box type & the JX (B1 body). During those days, paint in cars wasn’t the acrylic type of today. Kaya sumikat si Arthur Tuason & his “Wet Look” car paint before. Sa Sentra & other cars at the time, pangit paint.

i like acrylic. it looks good, and it is matibay.
i once had my non-japanese car painted with it. after that, i would remove hard-to-remove dirt, including some paint transfer, using brake fluid.
