For how strongly opinionated both characters are, and polar opposites, they sure have massive restraint not to confront each other. [emoji23]

They seldom exist in the same thread. And if they do, they never quoted each other.

akala kasi ng mga tao madali ang buhay sa states

people have to work very hard to stay on the treadmill

many people are 1 accident or medical emergency away from becoming homeless

    --

those with student loans (already working) can't afford to buy a house, start a family coz their income goes to paying the student loan + other expenses of course...

ang mahal ng rent kaya di talaga nakakaipon

kung $40,000 in debt siya (conservative estimate) it will take years to pay off that loan

That's why some of them are sending their kids somewhere else, like the Philippines, to study and to gain work experience, and then later return to the US to find work....

It's a reality of sorts in the US. Many yuppies are buried in student loan debt. College education is very expensive in the US - good schools would cost around 20k to 30k in a year and the Ivy League schools are twice that amount.

They say there are 3 best ways to get a good college education in the US - you have to be really intelligent (academic scholarships) or you have to very good in sports (NCAA scholarships) or you have to be very rich. If you don't have either of those 3 things, you can get a student loan or join the armed forces to get financial aid from the government.

That is a very conservative estimate. She was talking about a course in an IVY league school that cost $30k & more a year. Include dorm cost, food, allowances, books & others.
