Darwin's Theory of Evolution
Creationism (Story found in the book of Genesis)
Both
Neither... I believe in something else

evolution but by God's will.
yung bible story of creation e folk tale yun ng mga jews how the world was created, just much like the filipino folk tale story of "malakas at maganda". different peoples have different ways of telling the story of their origins, but the theme is the same - God created us and the universe. in fact kung buhay si darwin nung panahon na sinulat ang book of genesis e di totally different story ang mababasa natin sa bible.
ganyan din paniwala ko.Originally Posted by yebo
the surprising thing is that... scientists are still having a hard time pinpointing the exact "species" man was before he became homo sapien. though there are numerous ape like creatures but they are not that linked to modern man. seems that man just popped out of nowhere...
you just can't imagine how all things came to be without someone molding it all.
The problem with looking for man's precursor is that there are none left... the species has evolved into us. And fossil records are naturally spotty. Some species just plain lived in areas and conditions that did not foster fossil formation. Also, evolution is not always slow. Species in isolation can undergo extremely quick development given the right conditions.
While I may be a God fearing man, I don't believe in Genesis literally. Even the Catholic Church has released a missive stating that Darwin's Theory in no way contradicts the teachings of the Bible. Genesis is an allegorical fable regarding the role of the Creator, and should be taken as such.
As for evidence... as one engineer once said: "Give me the tools, and I can design a better man." If you want to see evidence of Man's roots, look at yourself.
I have a newborn daughter, and every time I look at her, I think it's wonderful that we've become so sophisticated, given such humble roots. When you stroke her hands, she grips your finger. Know why? That reflex enabled our ancestors to cling to the fur of their mothers.
When you stroke her feet, her toes curl and try to cling to your finger. (And they succeed to some extent, my daughter has very long toes). This is from a time when our feet could grasp, like most tree-borne primates' feet. And this reflex happens for the same reason that the hand reflex does, to grasp the fur of the mother as she carries the baby around.
These wonderful arms of ours developed from our tree-swinging ancestors, have a terrific degree of motion. For a savannah creature, which early man was, they made no sense before he found out about weapons.
And there are many other things about man that point to his humble origins. Vestigial body hair, from the time we needed it for warmth in the trees. We only lost the rest of it when we started to walk the savannah... where excessive body hair was a hindrance.
Our legs have developed for walking, but they are not optimal for it yet. Our feet are too big, our legs are too short. We don't need the extreme flexibility of our hip joints for walking, either. Our thighs are too long and our shanks are too short. Our lungs could be bigger, our bones should be lighter. Our teeth are not fully adjusted to our diet of meat yet, and we still possess the capacity to eat vegetation (even though our ancestors were primarily hunters)... but our gut is not as well developed as an herbivore's either. The appendix is a vestigial organ that may have helped us digest vegetation in the past, but does nothing now.
Man is a work in progress. And when I look at my baby, I often wonder what her great great grandchildren will look like.
I do want to believe in a Creator... but is it so hard to believe he could create something as wonderful as Evolution?
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
let me dig up yebo's old post... I believe many Christians (including me) feel the same way.Originally Posted by yebo

no one really knows... kanya kanya beliefs yan... dati, sa Creationism ako naniniwala, pero talagang nakakapagtaka kung pano tayo dumami...
Evolution has evidence unlike creation. Although we cannot grasp God completely, we can use logic to figure out if we really came to be just out of Adam & Eve. They only had sons, right?

Genesis is only as real as Malakas at Maganda. If you believe you are Jewish, then you believe in this. Each civilization has its own version of creation. Remember the Church locked up Galileo because he said the sun is the center of the Universe.

actually, the Genesis story is just a rehash of other creationism story of other civilizations.Originally Posted by Monseratto
you can also spot some similiarities with them.
btw, there's an interesting *twist* in the Genesis story... a good one actually. Adam & Even was not banished because disobyed God by eating the fruit of knowledge. they were banished since they might also eat the fruit of life (since they already have the knowledge about good and evil), which would mean immortality for man (that does still not deserve it after doing that).
Both, I'm a Catholic but I'm also loyal to my 3rd yr. high school section (Darwin)![]()
I have utmost faith in the Judeo-Christian view of creation, though it may be deemed illogical by most (and with reason, too). People may call it foolhardy, i call it faith, haha. By the way, the evolution theory has as much solid evidence today as it did when Darwin first put it forward, which isn't much really. So a theory it remains.![]()
