Does anyone have experiences with these two banks? TIA.
HSBC for me...(well I'm here in HK so biased ang opinion ko)
Para sa akin eh mas maganda ang service nila...for instance sa credit card, sa HSBC pwede kang magbayad over the counter kung gusto mo, sa CitiBank eh hindi pwede, me charges din kapag nagbayad ka thru their ATMs na naka-charge sa susunod mong Bill or Acct. Hindi rin sila masyado accessible anywhere in the world, like for instance eh nasa Melbourne ka at bigla kang nangailangan ng Cash, wala halos silang affiliate banks doon...yun pa ang isa kapag nag-cash advance ka sa kanilang ATM's (Citibank) eh me charge yung mismong pag-withdraw mo aside from the interest at handling fee na automatic ng idadagdag sa susunod mong Bill....
maliliit lang namang items ito pero if you're using their service for sometime eh naiipon din yung mga charges...
Sa HSBC naman, eh mataas lang ang interest rates nila but wala pa akong napuntahan na bansa na wla silang bank or affiliates.....

I prefer HSBC Credit cards. Support and security is okey. May promo pa sila na free Timex watch when I got my card last November. When I tried redeeming the item from Timex SM City Baguio, palaging after two weeks daw and so and so forth.
Mukhang ayaw nila magbigay. Or am I just being inconsiderate?
I have an account sa citibank, ang pangit lang kahit over the counter ang widrwal meron charges, and maganda naman pwede dollars or peso ang widraw mo sa ATM nila, ewan ko kung ganun din sa HSBC
exactly pare, me bayad lahat kahit pa gamitin mo yung mismong bangko nila....just imagine nagwitdraw ka na nga over their own counter ng pera mo na ginagamit din naman nila on other finances tapos eh sisingilin ka pa....I do understand don sa charges if you are using their affiliate bank......
sa ngayon eh Citibank credit card na lang ang meron ako sa kanila...yung savings account eh nilipat ko na sa HSBC....tapos after a month eh me dumating na bill sa akin yung Citibank, di raw nakaltas yung withdrawal fee nung mag-withdraw ako over the counter sa branch nila...I plan to close my CitiBank credit card as well when they expire in 2008....
actually sa HSBC kapag me US dollar account ka, pede kang mag-withdraw ng Us dollar over the counter.... at kung naka-link yung local account mo sa dollar account (which normally is) eh pwede kang mag-transfer ng local currency to dollar currency and vice-versa online....no frills....ewan ko lang dyan sa pinas but I dont think it will vary too much......dito sa HK very helpful ang mga staff ng HSBC no matter who you are, whether you only have a 100dollars in your account or you have 100million....dun sa Citibank dito kapag me enquiry ka sa branch nila at nakitang maliit lang yung account mo sa kanila eh nababago ang kanilang attitude/service towards you.....di ko nilalahat pero yon ang experience ko sa dalawang branch nila na napagtanungan ko na in the past....after the 2nd one, I just withdraw my money right at that moment...nabwisit kasi ako.... and directly told the guy that I will just put my money in HSBC which is just in the other corner of the street.

i agree, HSBC seems more customer friendly.
sa Citibank kasi my impression is that they are focused solely on the bottom line...
When finally pumayag ako kase maganda rewards program ng Citibank, I was declined naman. Sobrang nakakainsulto talaga. And to think i have 3 primary cards before this kaya ewan! Weird sila.
In terms of banking with citibank... dami nagsabi nde maganda. shempre ako naman biased na den.![]()

I received a pre approved HSBC card here sa office 2 yrs ago. I called
them saying that I'm not interested. Unfortunately I received a monthly
billing. I don't know kung saan nila kinuha yung mga charges na yun though
maliit lang, less than a hundred. I'm not a credit card holder so pinabayaan
ko lang. After ilang months lumaki ng lumaki na umabot ng thousand including
annual fee. Hindi ko pinansin after less than a year tumigil din.
I have an accounts dollars and peso account sa HSBC ...
very useful .. lalo na at nasa Airforce 1 ka at medyo n short ... bumaba k lang doun na sa tabi entrance door may HSBC bank and ATM machine![]()
Sa aking experience, HSBC is better than Citibank because of better service.
:beam:
well .... for all the info. nagbabalak kasi akong mag open ng new account on my next vacation...... sa palagay ko HSBC narin ang pupuntahan ko. magkano kaya initial opening an acct.???
I have credit card accounts on both.
Prefer HSBC. They waived my annual fee permanently. Have 3% rebate sa Caltex on fuel charges.
Citibank: I've repeatedly requested them to waive my annual but they rejected my request just as often - wala daw sila promo.
I find Citibank's call center incompetence irritating, imagine they keep calling you to offer credit card when you are already a customer? They can't even afford to keep a file of their customers in good order?
Up to last week of December lang ata yun. Ok HSBC! Citibank na deny ako and to think na nag tie up sila sa company namin. Kaya nung may tumatawag na agent from citibank kasi pre approved daw ako for a credit card sabi ko.. "i'm not intersted!"![]()
