My father-in-law is a tinkerer (has its advantages and disadvantages) and he has a reasonably complete set of tools. He even has his own arc welder.
My DIY list:
- drilling holes in concrete walls for frames and decorations
- puttying and repainting holes in concrete walls when interior decorator changed her mind after a few hours
- declogging
- minor leaks
- soldering cables victimized by puppies
- assembling flat pack furniture
- diagnosing and cleaning home appliances.
- minor computer hardware and software problems
- minor car jobs like cleaning, changing filters, replacing bulbs, entertainment software upgrades for the Mazda
I used to rotate my cars' tires with the tools provided in the car and an hour of time. Don't want to do it anymore after I got light-headed halfway through my last rotation a few years ago.
YouTube is a very good source of info.Last edited by JohnM; February 7th, 2021 at 10:24 AM.

Jacks can fail. If you'll be working for a prolonged amount of time under the car, best to use jack stands for safety.
If you don't have jack stands at least place 2 of your wheels under the door sills of both sides just so you have a small layer of safety.
