Do you have a labandera? How much do you pay and for x number of people? Is the salary weekly or monthly? Does it include ironing?

I am surprised that the labanderas now are very demanding They are very different from the old generation of help at home

You are correct in your observation that labanderas are very demanding that is why most would rather buy their own washing machines to do their own laundry or go to laundromats. A friend who has a family of four said his labandera who does all their laundry and iron them charges them php 400/day with free lunch

This is in metro manila? The last labandera we talked to was charging P350 for laundry and another P350 for ironing for 3 people.

For a day's worth of work one should get a day's worth of wages.

If your labandera comes over once a week, that's a pretty fair exchange.

It isn't that people are becoming more demanding, it is simply that they are more aware of their rights and that there really are economic realities that drive up the price of labor.

Our househelp do the washing & ironing of our clothes.

Pero, pano ba lavandera ngayon? Do they do handwash, or wash clothes via washing machine?

Tapos singil ata, nasa P500, may lunch at snacks pa.

I want my clothes handwashed. Kung washing machine, we won't hire a labandera anymore.

The person doing our laundry includes breakfast, lunch and 2 merienda. She brings her daughter along so that's for 2 people. But she's not really a labandera. She used to be the caretaker of our old neighbor and she is filling in until we find a labandera. Nahihiya na ko kasi she mentioned that at home she uses a washing machine.

    Handwash talaga? Hehe ayus!

Then we hire iron lady, pag weekends.

300 yun free lunch pa. Eh for 2 pax lang paplantsahin nun ha.

    Pero in fairness pulido trabaho.

AFAIK between 3.5k to 5k stay in all around with sss contributions and philhealth.

Dun nagkakatalo in the long run kung tatagal sa inyo e. Usually if the treatment and pay is good there are maids na family member na turing at d na naiisip umalis because of this. [emoji4]

    I ride solo...

6.5kg samsung toploader(18kphp) plus liquid detergent and downy/comfort whichever is on sale. And a hanger pole.

Clothes dont even need ironing if softener is used properly.

Back in college circa 2003 it was 35pesos/kilo with pickup and delivery sa dorm.

Automatic dispenser dapat. Some let the fabric softener soak for lots of minutes and reduces the effectively of the wax. I think the washine machine manufacturers timed it to be under a few minutes of agitation then spin dry agad. I think this lets the wax cling better sa clothes in my opinion.
