i had a C20UX before that. conked out after 2+yrs with light use. hindi ko na tinangkang dalhin sa repair shop, i had a feeling the repair costs would be too high. ganun na talaga pag entry level, disposable. pero i'd say sulit naman.
ung other models kasi ng epson uses that DuraBrite thingy; ok if you're after good photo quality printouts, pero mahal sobra ung cartridge.
btw, ung C45 has this feature where it combines the remaining ink on your CMYK cartidge to produce black output. based on experience the output is not exactly black, kasi depende nga kung ano ung natitirang ink, pero for rough drafts n stuff pwede na.
don't leave it off for too long a time though, me tendency na tumuyo ung ink sa nozzles ang bumara. kahit i on mo for a few minutes every few days.
*happy: at least in the case of epson printers, mas mahal consumables ng higher end inkjets, kasi DuraBrite na ang gamit. AFAIK wala pang compatible na cartridge that uses it.
i was actually considering the C65, pero nung nalaman kong DuraBrite sya e C45 na lang kinuha ko, although alam kong the printouts wouldn't be as nice. plus, puro text lang naman piniprint ko e B).
i *can* site a case where your statement applies though: there was this printer swap promo a few years back; trade in mo ung sirang printer mo, you get a brand new Lexmark printer. ang problema, walang ink cartridge, tapos walang compatibles, puro orig lang -- which were very expensive. so, initial cost mo zero, kaso patay ka sa consumables B).
ive developed a brand loyalty for HP...sulit na sulit kahit refilled cartridges ang gamit mo...di maganda experience ko sa Canon printers eh...la pa akong experience sa Epson printers...
for me hindi sharp ang printouts ng epson, and i dont like the single printer head style, hindi tulad ng HP na pag pangit na ang head mo bili ka ng orig cartridge, bago na agad ang head mo.. then maganda na ulit magprint ang printer.
okay ang canon pixma (iP5000 ang gamit ko ngayon). most affordable genuine ink cartridges (although maliit yung cartridge, the price of a single genuine HP cartridge can buy two canon black cartridges, may sukli pa), very low cost per page, good print quality (dependent on paper quality though). excellent for light-duty printing. the print head isnt prone to clogging.
okay din ang HP (meron din kaming lumang deskjet 930c), but cost-per-page is very high. ang mamahal pa ng cartridges, but the upside is that the cartridges are large, come with a new print head, and last quite a long time. draft quality on HP printers rivals normal quality on other printers.
okay din ang epson, but the ink cartridges run out quite fast. parang madalas din mag clog yung print head in my experience.

What do you think about the Inkjets mentioned above? Are they any good? Baka kasi mahal yung Ink.
