sometimes, naiisip ko tama talaga ang ways ng americans, they kick their children out once they reach 18, kaya mga tao doon walang sense false hope of entitlement...you work on your won huwag ka umaasa ka magulang mo...if you want to finish college mag student loans ka...etc...

then tama rin yun home for the aged, dahil mga anak meron sariling buhay dapat parents huwag na iasa na aalagaan sila ng mga anak...I mean sa mga care homes magbayad ka for proffesional service unlike pag sa bahay lang...

kaya minsan naiisip ko kawawa mga parents dito sa atin...hanggat hinde nagaasawa ang mga anak sa kanila nakatira, still their responsiblity kahit 30 yrs old na...sometime yun iba hinde maka pag retire dahil meron pang mga apo na dapat pagaralin...

dapat tapos na talaga responsibility ng parents once nag graduate na ang anak...ano pa ba dapat ibigay nila...they already gave you education..now its time for you to plow your own path

Nag-research ako ng resorts sa Calatagan, I stumbled upon Lago De Oro beach resort. Ok naman kaya? Meron din sila wakeboarding at fishing, something that my dad will like naman.
Nadaanan ko 'to on the way to my friend's rest house before. Malaki siya, a few minutes away from the Calatagan town proper. Hindi ako nakapasok though. Pico de Loro ang peg pero mas secluded.

I go to the beach for the company. Actually kahit hindi naman sa beach, kahit anong outing naman, it's the people that make it memorable.

I disagree. I'm not a fan of the individualistic culture of the US. I see great value in the family-oriented culture of most Asian countries. I greatly appreciate my family not because of their financial support but because no matter what life throws at you, you know that you have a family that will support you. Again, it doesn't have to be support in a financial sense, but a social, empathic support system. It also promotes gratitude over mere obligation - that gratitude that you want to give back to your parents that's why you take them in when they retire, that gratitude to try and help out in the household while you're still living under one roof, to share with them whatever you reap out of the education they worked hard for you to have.

In either culture, there will be slobs and ingrates.

Agree. Go out and enjoy the drives/long trips while you and your mom are still young. Life is short, grab it by the balls ika nga.

I was planning a 3 to 4 day trip, problema lang eh mahal at plano pa lang dahil hirap mag sched.

Im planning something like Hundred island sa alaminos on 1st day, then alis very early morning and head to baguio 2nd day, then vigan 3rd day, then pagudpud 4th day.

Also noted some restaurant or small eatery we can drop by on the way.

Maybe we'll do this december kung kelan maraming day off. And I'm estimating a budget around 30k maybe even 40k for this.
