Sports car driver gets ticket after overtaking PNoy's convoy

MANILA (UPDATED) - A sports car-driving Makati resident was cited for reckless driving at the Skyway after overtaking several vehicles of the presidential convoy, including the car of President Benigno Aquino III himself.

The President was heading for Manila after inspecting the international airport terminals when the incident happened.

A Malacañang source identified the driver as Jeffrey Roxas-Chua, a resident of Urdaneta Village, Makati. He was driving a red 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution with license plate UWI 797.

According to the Palace source, Roxas-Chua first tried to overtake the vehicle of the Presidential Communication and Operations Office (PCOO), forcing the PCOO driver to slow down and give way.

Two police cars tried to block Roxas-Chua from cutting in the convoy, but the latter managed to outdrive them. He then wove in and out of the other vehicles until he reached the President's car and overtook it.

A cop aboard a motorcycle flagged down Roxas-Chua and issued him a ticket for reckless driving, noting he was going much faster than the 100 kilometers per hour allowed on the Skyway.

But Roxas-Chua allegedly got mad and demanded to know the name of the policeman, who answered that he was with the presidential escorts and that his name was on the ticket itself. He also took a video of the policeman who issued him a ticket.

Roxas-Chua then allegedly told the policeman: "Kay Presidente pala kayo ha. Ganyan pala. Humanda ka pag naging presidente si Binay o si Erap. Ipatatanggal kita."

In a statement, however, Manila City Development Information Office chief Diego Cagahastian said Estrada does not know Roxas-Chua.

"Nagbilin na sya [Estrada] sa mga pulis na walang gagamit ng pangalan [niya] lalo na sa kalsada. Hindi niya kilalang yung Chua,” Cagahastian said.

A Google search showed Roxas-Chua is into customizing sports cars and joining racing events.

Might be gray import then registered in 2012. Unless nag-ala public bus and using another vehicle's plate.

When i read sports car I was like maybe it's a GT-R or a 911.
Then when I saw it was an old Evo...



Anyways, I think any vehicle who cuts in and out of a presidential convoy can be considered a threat and hostile, as others have cited.

Who knows what's really the motive of the driver. For all they know, it could have a car bomb targeting the president.

Di ba dapat pag ganun i box nila using max effort tapos paunahin makalayo yung presidential car to ensure his safety. There must be another side of this story. Sa tingin ko, na offend lang si boss sa bilis ng takbo nung evo kaya pinaticketan. Remember, mahilig din sa sports car yung isa. On the otherhand, dapat konting respeto na lang din sa convoy, makikita nya naman plate number 1, unless he is so dumb not to know that it is a presidential car.

Bawal na bawal sumingit sa convoy, may protocol yan. Kung gusto mo mag-overtake, sige overtake, just make sure na hindi ka mag-cut sa kahabaan ng convoy.

This is also what I'm wondering, so kung may suicide killer targeting the president alam na ang vulnerability. Alam na nila kayang kaya dikitan ang sasakyan ni PNoy. Kung punuin ng C4 yung right side of the car, will the president's bulletproof car withstand such a force?
