ALARMED by the presence of heavily-armed carjackers posing as policemen, Philippine National Police officer-in-charge Deputy Director General Oscar C. Calderon yesterday said plainclothes policemen in unmarked cars who flag down drivers would be investigated.

"I reiterate the command guidance of PNP chief Gen. Arturo Lomibao that no unmarked vehicle with sirens and blinkers shall be used during police operations," Calderon said.

He said persons with firearms, in civilian attire or police uniforms using unmarked vehicles and engaging in police work as a ploy for carjacking and robbery holdup will be immediately arrested.

"We're calling on the public to immediately report to us the presence of these armed men using the same modus operandi through Patrol 117 or PNP Txt 2920," Calderon said.

He commended the Quezon City Police District headed by Chief Supt. Nicasio J. Radovan Jr. for arresting five suspected car thieves in separate operations in Q.C. last Friday.

He also instructed PNP Traffic Management Group director Chief Supt. Ricardo C. Quinto to step up the campaign against car theft a in Metro Manila in coordination with National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Vidal E. Querol.

"My order for the day is to neutralize these daring car thieves because we want to assure the safety of all travelers in the metropolis. We need highprofile operations here," he said.

"We have given instructions to the NCRPO and the TMG to strike hard without let-up on suspected hideouts and safehouses of the carnappers as part of our preemptive response," Calderon said.

More than 45 car theftincidents believed to have been perpetrated by the same group of suspects have been reported in Q.C.since January.

How come they think that the carnappers are civilians in cops' uniforms? There is also a large possibility that these are real policemen. That would explain the knowledge of police procedures and the use of high-powered firearms as stated by some of the victims.

huh? PNP is declaring war against themselves? haha.

    sorry for being sarcastic.

my tita was a victim of carnapping. ok, na-recover naman after several months, kumpleto pa... kaya lang bago nailabas sa kampo, naubos naman ang mga accessories. looks like the thieves have gate pass to the camp.
