Nostradamus had 'grim warning' for new pope
    http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems...4/s1340993.htm

The pope elected to succeed John Paul II will be assassinated and his death will spark a Muslim invasion of the West that will split the Roman Catholic church, according to an interpretation of Nostradamus's prophecies by a leading Colombian author.

"The next pope elected will be subsequently murdered in central Italy," said Gonzalo Echeverri, a Colombian investigating judge and author of a book on Nostradamus.

"Then comes pope number 112, who will flee Rome because of an attack by Muslims."

Mr Echeverri says the pope will base himself in Avignon, France, and another pontiff will take control in Italy, splitting the Catholic church in two.

"There is a very clear prophecy that says the holy father will move to another place, even warning that the French pope will not be able to stay in Avignon due to the Muslim invasion and will flee again to Lyon, where he will be attacked, according to Nostradamus," Echeverri said.

Avignon was a base for popes for much of the 14th century, another time of grave divisions in the church and Europe.

Nostradamus was a 16th century scholar who made prophecies.

His supporters say he predicted the French revolution, the rise of Hitler and the assassination of President John F Kennedy.

    Muslim invasion?

It maybe appropriate in Nostradamus' times, but nowadays? Hmmm...

Dba in the middle ages... uso yung Christian-Muslim / "religious" wars... in this time wala pa namang indication of something like that happening...

Kung conversion, parang medyo malabo... Italy is a very staunch Roman-Catholic country. Imagine trying to convert the Philippines to another religion...

    But let's see...

In Europe you can find a lot of empty Cathedrals. Half of the world's Catholics can be found in Latin America. Catholicism is growing in Africa, Asia and other places. Muslims are migrating to Europe to escape the problems in the Middle East.
Imagine trying to convert the Philippines to another religion...
It happened before way back in 1521. The natives of the archipelago now known as the Philippines used to believe in different dietiest, spirits, etc.

Subject to interpretation naman kasi ang sinasabi ni Nostradamus.

Malay niyo, Nostradamus also saw the arrival of the teletubbies. Depende na lang sa interpreter iyan.

How about being shot when you don't get converted?

Protestants? Simple... the arrival of the Americans... since Spain cannot anymore dictate the choice of religion of the people...

So our religions are imposed by foreigners. If a superior foreign force were to occupy the Philippines again and demand we worship... SQUIDS for example eventually people will abandon what they believe in and start worshiping SQUIDS. Only in rare sets of people do you see them stick to there religious beliefs even if it means they will die.

St Lorenzo Ruiz is one example of someone dying for one's beliefs. Si Lapu-Lapu also killed to protect his way of life.

YUP. Though that is before (heck that was hundreds of years ago). For today, it is up to you if you want to worship SQUIDS when someone invades us. :bwahaha:

Btw, Americans didn't coerce Filipinos to Protestantism. If they did, we wouldn't be predominantly Catholic right now.

Right now you can a wide variety of choices... from the traditional Roman Catholic to the more controversial Ang Dating Daan...
