Why make this kind of thread?

BTT: I like him because he's entertaining.

But Tiff Needell's reviews are better than Jeremy.

Clarkson driven out: Presenter flees Argentina as mob threatens to 'barbecue' him after inciting Falklands outrage with H982 FKL number plate

Jeremy Clarkson was forced to flee Argentina under police escort as furious protesters vowed to ‘barbecue’ him, it was revealed last night.

The Top Gear host was hounded out by Falklands War veterans after driving a car with the number plate H982 FKL – which they claim referred to the 1982 conflict.

He and fellow presenters Richard Hammond and James May fled their hotel after the lobby was invaded by angry ex-military personnel who told them to leave ‘or face the consequences’.

Staff told how the demonstrators shouted insults until they were removed by officers, forcing the crew to leave so hurriedly they forgot a computer.

The presenters then left for the nearest airport in order to catch the last flight to Buenos Aires, where they boarded another plane to Chile yesterday.

But other members of the BBC2 motoring show’s crew were pelted with stones by a jeering mob as they made their way to the border by road. All the cars used by the presenters had windows broken.

A number of vehicles were abandoned, including the Porsche with the controversial plate that Clarkson, 54, was driving in the southern province of Tierra del Fuego for a special edition of the show.

The 25-strong crew were saved from a second attack when they were smuggled by police and government officials down a remote route to the border.

Locals used social networking sites to comment on the convoy’s progress, with one posting the chilling message: ‘We’re going to make a barbecue with their meat on the border.’

Another said: ‘It looks like Jeremy Clarkson got a taste of his own medicine.’ And another labelled him a ‘British idiot’.
War veteran association member Osvaldo Hilliar said the crew had ignored strong ‘local feeling’ about the Falklands.

He added: ‘We told them we couldn’t guarantee their security if they didn’t leave.’ Despite claims by Top Gear that the choice of number plate was a coincidence, Argentine officials say it was a deliberate provocation.

Local mayor Gustavo Melella vowed to make an official protest to the British Embassy in Argentina. ‘We are peace-loving people but they’ve generated the initial violence by coming to our country in the way they have,’ he said.

A BBC spokesman said last night: ‘We’re pleased the team is safe and would like to thank all of those who have helped.’

    To answer the TS:

Clarkson is a troll. A prehistoric, racist, misogynistic troll. Sometimes, things he says (even if they're things purely about cars, and not about politics) are incredibly, insensibly wrong.

But: he's funny. Which is why I still read his reviews and columns, and why I still watch Top Gear.

    -

That was utterly stupid. Even for JC.

Getting sacked by the BBC in 3... 2... 1...

i agree, i like watching their show since it's funny and entertaining but if i want a none biased and accurate review of a car i wouldn't listen to them. it's funny how other people thinks of JC as a god of cars. i've had people argue with me about cars then say "but jeremy clarkson said this and that.":bwahah: kahit dito sa forum na to i see that a lot.

i doubt BBC will fire jeremy, he's a money maker to them. anyway i don't see anything wrong with what they did, FKL on the plate# of the car doesn't mean ****. those argentine are sore losers, other countries are made fun of by top gear almost every episode worse than what they got and they don't budge. oh and because of what happened i'm sure that episode will get double its usual ratings.

Well, despite all his flaws, there's still something genuinely British about him that doesn't get that much attention:

Damn, son! Where'd you find this?

I love him. As early as 2005? Ive been watching him. I had a friend laughing at me when he found out i was watching autofocus and threw a topgear dvd at me. Been hooked since. Not so much for the facts but more on the british humor and the cinematography! How beautifully shot those topgear vids are. Pikon argentinians. As pikon as pinoys. I dont hate him for his racist remarks. Mas racist pa pinoy. I agree, i dont think he'll ever be sacked. Hes an effing money machine.

I like Clarkson, very entertaining. Of course, he's the most opinionated motoring personality that ever lived so you really have to take his statements with a grain of salt.

Top Gear wouldn't be Top Gear if it was Hammond, May, and Tiff hosting.

i watch topgear because of his antics, like fording the ford fiesta on the beach as if it is an assault amphibious vehicle heck with british commandos on board, but he is a racist fool. the fifth gear guy tiff gives good reviews, but he is just plane boring to watch, boss niky's reply here in this forum is much more exciting to read than watching tiff.

if i want a plain unbiased professional review, i'd pm boss nicky than start a thread and i seriously consider the boss's opinion

Hahaha... here, I try to give all the facts from all sides... but come review time... there's no such thing as unbiased...

A car review is a subjective thing... what's "comfortable" or "fast" or "exciting" or "relaxing" to one reviewer isn't to another. I try to present an unbiased opinion, as much as possible, but in the end... if I really like a car, even if it is a terrible POS... I really like it...

Review: 2012 Suzuki Jimny, Philippine Spec, Tested In The Philippines | The Truth About Cars

You can be factual... entirely subjective, and entertaining. Sometimes... just sometimes Clarkson forgets the first part. :p Tiff is a better judge of car dynamics and driving at the limit... but Clarkson is a better presenter and journalist.

Still... Neither is quite as easy on the eyes as Vicki Butler-Henderson.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

    The Clarkson Effect

Like him or not, some of his reviews do affect car sales in their home country.

kahit ako muntik na mapabili ng ford fiesta eh based doon sa ginawa niya.

then i woke up, i do not need such vehicle.(test drove one, lot of blind spot, maybe because it's too low- hindi sanay, side mirror is just too small, rear window is just too small, rear view mirror is too small- im not bashing it, it's a good car- mt tranny only)- but the agent was happy since my attention went to the explorer and i bought one eventually(since during that time daming ek ek ng dealer sa explorer)

Specially when Tiff is driving and Vicki is hanging on for dear life. :-)

Who likes Jeremy Clarkson? :)
