OB are you talking about incidental music or musical score? One of my favorite films 2001 A Space Odyssey by Stanley Kubrick has a great score. They used music by Strauss. Below is a sample:

A Clockwork Orange, also by Kubrick made use of music by Beethoven. Below is a sample:

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPq1tnrH_eM"]YouTube - A Clockwork Orange Soundtrack - Ludwig Van Beethoven - Ninth Symphony, Second Movement[/ame]

Musical scores are not exclusively classical though. Another one of my favorite films, The Virgin Suicides used an Original Score by Air which is synth-pop.

There's an ocean of classical music to choose from and hundreds of composers per era (baroque, classical, modern, impressionist etc) You can't so wrong with Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. Personally I just listen when I am in the mood with the collection of my parents but I'm no enthusiast in classical music.

I also noticed that people who listen to classical music have a good ear on instruments and movements so if you do succeed with your "education" on classical music you'd benefit more from just increasing your brain power

For contemporary film scores the big names are: John Williams (Star Wars, Jaws, Schindler's List), John Barry (Out of Africa, Somewhere in Time) and Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Lion King)

One thing about living in the Philippines is that there's so little activities that have to do with culture and art. Good luck! he he.

If you want titles. Try these:

    Bach - brandenburg concerto
    Chopin - nocturnes
Rachmaninov - piano concerto no 2 and 3
    Mozart - symphony 40 (gasgas)

OB, below is a video of Leonard Bernstein. He's said to be the greatest American conductor of the 20th century:

OT: Sis, Clockwork Orange? I maybe am not cultured enough to appreciate this Kubrick film. To me, it's kind of 'weird'....

BTT: Bro.hondaboot,- Metallica would be a good start. DMB would also be a good material....

I don't think you're alone in that opinion of the film being weird

What I appreciate in a film kasi is direction or writing. I guess that's why I was able to overlook the strangeness of the film. I'm such a big fan of Kubrick He's a brilliant director. The best films in my opinion are those that are written and directed by the same person eg Cameron Crowe and Sofia Coppola

How about films that had one person writing, directing and starring? Like those made by Woody Allen, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Orson Welles.

    BTT.

Carl Orff's O Fortuna from Carmina Burana. Often used in commercials for movies.

Wagner’s Ride of the Valkyries in Apocalypse Now.

For those who hate classical music, there's Canon Rock. It's a rock version of Johann Pachelbel's Canon in D major.

    Man you have good taste.

Woody Allen - I am not a fan but my ex is. I have to say that he does write great dialogue.

Charlie Chaplin - Universally regarded as a genius

Orson Welles - CITIZEN KANE! AFI's all time greatest film.

Buster Keaton - not familiar but I will look it up.

Are you in your 80s na ba? Kidding! Silent era kasi iba mong choice
