MANILA, Philippines - Okada Group's Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment, Inc. and Robinsons Land Corp.'s planned $1-billion gaming complex is scheduled to open by late 2014.
Henry Yap, general manager at Robinsons Land, on Thursday said the Manila Bay Resorts, an integrated entertainment and gaming complex, will be situated in a 44-hectare area in PAGCOR's Entertainment City in Paranaque.
The complex will have three hotels -- two of which will be luxury hotels while the remaining will be a budget hotel -- with a total of 2,000 rooms.
Manila Bay Resorts will also boast of 3,000 slot machines and 500 gaming tables, Yap said the complex will also have a shopping mall, a trade hall and a number of luxury retail stores and restaurants.
Moreover, residential towers will also be part of the complex, Yap said.
The project, expected to create more than 5,000 jobs, is foreseen to draw interest from local and foreign visitors especially those from the Asia-Pacific region.
Robinsons Land earlier this month signed a deal with Japanese pachinko magnate Kazuo Okada's Universal Entertainment Corp. for the development of Manila Bay Resorts.
The agreement is still subject to comprehensive due diligence, with the signing of definitive agreements seen by end of January next year.
