A Filipino migrant worker based in Riyadh learned too late that text or email messages claiming that you have won a huge amount of money in an electronic lottery is a scam.

“Boy” (not his real name) is appealing for help to pay more than US$8,000 which he borrowed from friends and colleagues to be able to claim 250,000 pounds he allegedly won from an electronic raffle.

He never received the said amount despite the money he transferred to a certain “Larry Barr”, a Nigerian.

Boy recently created his very first email address after learning how to use a computer. In February, he received an email telling him of the prize he had won from a lottery.

He was asked to transmit the money to the Nigerian supposedly to pay for the processing fee before he could collect his prize.

However, when the money was remitted he suddenly stopped receiving email and text messages from the Nigerian.

Although Boy promised to pay his debt, he is appealing to boxing champ Manny Pacquiao and Vice President Noli De Castro for help.
