All light bulbs at home are low-mercury CFL type bulbs.
My computer monitor is now a LCD panel (saves power).
My car runs on LPG (cleaner than gasoline).
All my movies and videos watched at home are on hard disk... much less plastic from DVD/VCDs. Distribution is electronic, less pollution from actual transport of DVDs, etc to retail stores, etc.
I use rechargeable batteries when possible (remotes control, camera, etc).
My toilets are dual flush to save water.
I recycle/reuse my plastic grocery bags.Last edited by ghosthunter; September 21st, 2009 at 01:36 PM.

Using nothing but CFLs.
Use an AC timer at night.
We've been recycling shopping bags for years. We have enough to use as trash bags from now till Armageddon.
Batteries? What are batteries?
Dual flush. Sometimes, we don't even flush.
LPG conversion... so we can sleep in the car in the parking lot without spending so much on gasoline... :hysterical:

My bathroom tissue paper comes from a cultivated forest. This prevents the cutting down of virgin forest for paper.

edit: its made from recycled paper, not virgin pulp.Last edited by ghosthunter; September 24th, 2009 at 02:25 AM.

My bedside lamps have LED type light bulbs which consume only 1 watt of power yet has the same output as 15-20 watt incandescent bulb. They last longer too.

Garbage is still sorted between recyclables (except soda cans) and plain trash.
No A/C. We leave the windows open to make a circulation. It doesn't get quite hot enough here to require A/C during summer. For heating at winter, I imagine we'll leave the thermostat at 70F/21C. If anyone still feels cold, I'll tell them to wear more clothes.
I think it's 12 cents a soda can at the recycling center. We drop off ours every 3-4 months and make enough to have a KFC takeout or something.
They don't seem much. But compared to others in our neighborhood, we're pretty frugal. Our weekly trash pick up averages 2-3 bags (3 adults, 1 teen, 1 toddler) or 2 big trash bags and 2 smaller dirty diaper bags compared to the neighbors who average 6,7, even 8 bags of trash a week.
Only the teen wants washable/recyclable diapers for the toddler. Of course, she's not the one who has to change it. Diapers........Blyeeek.Last edited by Jun aka Pekto; September 22nd, 2009 at 03:06 AM.
