(Update No. 2—11:07 p.m., Monday, September 1) A vehicle loaded with an undetermined number of explosives was discovered at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 3 (NAIA 3) on Monday.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said a white Toyota Revo with plate numer WMK 129 was intercepted at the NAIA Terminal 3 parking lot B loaded with components of explosives at around 1:45 a.m.

Four suspects were arrested by elements of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) during simultaneous operations in Makati and the vicinity of SM Mall of Asia.

Another report, meanwhile, said only 3 suspects were arrested.

Airport sources said the suspects were apprehended while they were assembling the explosives inside the vehicle parked at the NAIA 3 open parking lot.

Gen. Vicente Guerzon, MIAA senior assistant general manager, placed the entire NAIA complex in full alert.

Guerzon immediately called for an emergency meeting with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, Office for Transportation Security (OTS), and local PNP from Pasay and Parañaque cities. – Raoul Esperas; with Dexter Ganibe, Ricky Velasco, and Henry Atuelan, dzMM

On first arrival, i-inspection nila yung car. Then on my second and subsequent passes, ni-wave off na lang nila ako without inspection, even if I insist that they do the check. :D

Nutty Anti-China Nationalist, baka kamag anak ni Royette Padilla... Blowing up and causing mayhem on his fellow countrymen to protest China's "invasion"... Dapat sa Beijing or Shanghai mag-bombing para instant execution sila dun.

Self-proclaimed anti-China ‘general’ behind NAIA bomb attempt —De Lima
    September 2, 2014 9:36am

(Updated 9:47 a.m.) A self-proclaimed anti-China group has been linked to Monday's foiled attempt to smuggle improvised explosives into the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Justice Secretary Leila de Lima said Tuesday morning.

In a press conference at the National Bureau of Investigation, de Lima said the leader of three men arrested Monday was one Pepito Guerrero, a self-proclaimed "general" of "USAFFE."

"Inaalam (namin kung) gaano kalaki o ilan ang member. Ang kanilang sinusulong from initial investigation is hindi sila kuntento, frustrated sila sa stand ng pamahalaan kontra sa China," she said in the press conference, parts of which were aired on dzBB radio.

She identified the two other arrested as Emmanuel San Pedro and Sonny Diojanon.

The three will undergo inquest proceedings within the day and be charged with illegal possession of explosives.

Possible added charges being studied against them include conspiracy to commit terrorism, she said.

De Lima said the group had planned a bombing as early as Aug. 25, National Heroes Day, but it did not push through.

Citing initial investigation by the NBI, she said the group claims to be "defenders of the Filipino people."

"They want this administration to espouse a tougher stand in this dispute (with) China. Apparently this is a misguided group," she said, referring to the Philippines' territorial dispute with China in parts of the South China Sea.

During the press conference, de Lima said the improvised incendiary device found inside the suspects' vehicle could potentially cause a fireball that could be deadly to anyone within five to 10 meters.

She said the fragments could cause injury and be deadly.

Meanwhile, de Lima said their investigation will now focus on whether the group has other allies and who is behind it.

"Sila lang ba /yan? Sino ang nasa likod nila?" she said. — Joel Locsin/TJD/KG, GMA News

Too crazy to be believable, they might just be hiding their real intentions. Bobombahin nila ang sariling bansa dahil galit sila sa China? If this were their true reason. execute them at once at baka dumami pa lahing tanga nila.
