The promos "brought about a behavior" among subscribers that affected the quality of service of the operator.

LOCAL carrier Globe Telecom is not inclined to extend its unlimited call and text service promo, its top official disclosed on Monday.
Gerardo Ablaza, president and chief executive officer of Globe Telecom, said the promos "brought about a behavior" among subscribers that affected the quality of service of the operator.

With such a development, the operator will eventually discontinue the promos offered through its subsidiary Touch Mobile and Globe Telecom.

Touch Mobile's "Todo Tawag Text" and Globe's "All you want" promos are set to expire this month.

"We should not extend this type of promos because we've seen the kind of behavior this produces among our customers. We've had feedback [that] some subscribers have difficulty registering to the service," Ablaza said in Monday's press briefing.

The Globe promo has allowed pre-paid subscribers to load-up 300 pesos to get unlimited calls and text messages.

Meanwhile the Touch Mobile promo allows pre-paid subscribers unlimited text messaging for 50 pesos for 5 days, and unlimited call and text messaging for 150 and 300 pesos for 15 days and 30 days.

Rivals Smart Communications and Sun Cellular are still offering unlimited text and call service to pre-paid subscribers.

lately, di na masyadong congested ang globe... i got a globe prepaid sim nung sunday and register it sa unlmtd promo.. got registered monday morning and i've been using it since... hehe.. sulit talaga..

yung postpaid sim ko ay pantawag na lang sa ibang networks..

ok na nga ang connection ng alluwant ngayon. isang tawag lang connect kaagad. sayang hindi na ma extend ang promo nila. sana magbigay nalang sila ng kahit additional free text sa next promo para naman makakatipid din yung mga subscribers nila.

thanks for the feedback that you like alluwant. However, if you have notice sa thread, many complained on the difficulty of registering. But once registered, peoples feedback changed a total 360 degrees (maybe because it's now into their advantage). But if you take it as a whole, it is still network quality we are talking about. You might not have experience difficulty in calling, but there are certain areas that did, and with that, performance was not acceptable to our service standards. but then again, as i have mentioned in a different thread, as of April 5, the free sms of prepaid can now be used to other networks in the Philippines (ie. smart, sun, talk&text, etc.)

After 30 days of offering to their respective subscribers an "eat-all-you-can" unlimited call and text promo, both Smart Communications and Globe’s Touch Mobile (TM) have decided not to make these offerings a permanent one.

There is a small group of mobile subscribers who are probably willing to endure numerous instances of dropped calls, congested networks. Sun Cellular’s subscriber base doubled because there are people who want to avail of a P250 unlimited call and text service even if it means having to send one message several times before it finally reaches the intended beneficiary or having to dial a number several times before finally being connected.

Smart and Globe’s TM wanted to find more about this new price-quality paradigm created by Digitel so the two decided to offer their respective subscribers their own versions of an unlimited call or text in the case of Smart, and unlimited call and text for TM.

Both companies, in the short period of time that they undertook the promo, proved that quality of service is definitely going to suffer if the subscribers are given an unlimited fee structure. Globe president Gerry Ablaza says that those who availed of the TM promo experienced a degraded quality of service and a higher level of dropped calls, which only means that this kind of pricing paradigm is unsustainable if the network provider wants to maintain a certain level of quality in its service. Simply put, quality comes at a price.

sa smart pinalito pa ang mga tao sa 258 nila.
