    FORMER RALLY DRIVER and current Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP) president, Tony Mapa suddenly perishes in a tragic car accident on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) today at 0530.

    Mr. Mapa was involved in a head-on collision with a truck, the brunt of force which was absorbed by Mr. Mapa's vehicle. Details are sketchy at the moment as only reports of what happened are just pouring in over different news agencies.

    It was only through the help of Mr. Mapa and the AAP that the Car of the Year - Philippines (CoTY) eventually gelled and took form. The awarding ceremonies were just concluded last week. The editors of motioncars.com extend our condolences to Mr. Mapa's family.
