What a disastrous night...for my kids

first, nag spray yung 4yo ko sa hair nya ng X1R na lubricant (parang WD40). akala nya siguro hair spray. akala ko nagbasa lang sya ng buhok, mamayang konti, dala dala na nya yung X1R, tapos tsaka ko lang inamoy yung buhok!

then habang pinapaliguan ng wife ko yung panganay para maalis yung lubricant, ito namang bunso ko (2yo) takbo ng takbo, umiikot sa TV rack. sa side sya lagi nakatingin, ayun, pagharap nya, BLAG!!, sapul yung face nya sa corner ng rack! buti nalang nalagyan ko ng mga corner protectors yun, kundi ang laking sugat siguro. medyo nagka 'black eye' lang naman sa pisngi si bunso.

so syempre bubuhatin ko si bunso para patahanin sa pagiyak, bigla ba naman ako inihian. basa tuloy ako ng weewee from my tshirt to my shorts and my brief!

yung kapitbahay namin na bata SOBRANG KULIT lalo na kapag yung kapitbahay namin naglilinis ng tsikot lalabas siya at kukulitin yung kapitbahay namin na nakacorolla..Isang araw hinahabol siya nung maid nila tapos bigla ba naman sumakay sa loob ng tsikot at sa driver seat pa talaga umupo at pinaggagalaw yung glove box at ayun nasira tapos hindi pa nakuntento pinagtatapak tapakan yung brake at ayun nasira rin...Tinulungan ko nga yung kapitbahay namin ayusin yung tsikot niya sabi nga niya "hindi ko expect na ganun ka kulit yung bata na yun ah"..Ang tagal namin bago naayos yung tsikot niya at ang hirap ayusin tinanggal pa talaga namin yung sa ilalim ng steering wheel para mawala yung pagilaw nung brakes at maayos ulit yung glovebox..

ngayon nga kapag may bibilhin kaming maliit na furniture, yung kanto palagi ang tinitingnan ko...kapat di pabilog at matulis ang kanto eh ayaw ko na agad...

Ang masabi ko lang is, LET THEM BE KIDS! Sa mga makulit na bata, sometimes, kailangan lang din na i-distract mo sila from what they are doing and you start on something for them to be busy about. Short lang kasi ang attention span ng mga bata, so if they are doing something on their own, distract them to something non-destructive!!

I know that it sounds a little expensive, but if you can buy them toys that they truly love so that you can be sure that they are just busy doing things that are safe, then that is one thing out of your mind. Rather than they'll be tinkering with dangerous adult stuff that they shouldn't be touching. Toys would also help them focus on something. Although, kids tend to change flavors for toys, but that's just how they are. Remember that they can only be kids for the next 7-8 years, and then they'll start to harbor conciousness about their environment and they won't be kids any longer.

One last important thing: NEVER HIT YOUR KIDS FOR DOING SOMETHING! Whether you beleive it or not, trauma in childhood will create a long-lasting emotional scar for the rest of their lives that would be tragically irreparable. Hitting children was something that was heavily practiced by a generation previous to us and shouldn't be passed on to the next.

One last important thing: NEVER HIT YOUR KIDS FOR DOING SOMETHING! I don't think that it is the only reason. Creating a spoiled brat is not only because you refuse to hit your child. A bunch of practices would make a child spoiled such as: Giving whatever they want or eat, following whatever they want to do, Not calling their attention when having a bad behavior, giving money deliberately and spending it at their disposal and so many things. This would definitely make a spoiled brat.

I simply don't beleive on corporal punishment cause if you communicate with someone especially your own child, there should be an understanding or at least a connection for the child to follow by simply who you are to them. YOU CAN ALWAYS TALK TO THEM and call their attention again and again and again but not hit them. Communication is not exclusive for adults only, you can talk to your kids as well, So much so that we beleive corporal punishment as the only way to discipline a child, when we very well know that it is not the only way to discipline kids.

Sa atin kasi, spoiled brats are born out of lack of attention sa parents when parents don't give a damn sa mga anak nila. Pinababayaan lang sa mga yaya at binibigay na lang lahat ng mga gusto. Also, we always equate a spoiled brat to a child who is outspoken and I personally do not agree with that. Instead, encourage your child to speak out whatever they feel. Ito yung dahilan kung bakit andaming Pilipino with low self-esteem kasi pinapagalitan when they try to speak-out when they were kids.

Problema lang kasi is that we think that a child is a small adult, and that we can teach them adult ways. As a matter of fact, they can't act like one since their intellectual development is on a stage that wouldn't allow them to act like an adult as of yet. It will be quite amazing to see a 5-year old child to act like an 18-year-old. If there's a way to make it work like this, wala nang problema ang parents. But a child is a child and it is only a matter of time for kids to actually gain awareness and it is the parents responsibility to guide them to their awakening to adult life.

Personally, I don't want to be the one whom my child will recall in his adult years who taught him violence in action. Do you?
