i visited an optical shop this afternoon to get new glasses. ang naiquote sa kin for plastic, multilayered lens is 4k a pair -- nikon daw ung tatak. parang ang mahal sobra. the last time nagpagawa ako(2001), la pang 3k and nagastos ko, kasama na ung frame.

any idea how much it should cost?

had a pair made a month ago, also spent 4K (got it at this shop in ATC)...i think that's reasonable, since i wear them from the time i wake up in the morning till going back to bed.

to help you decide better, consider also that a pair of contacts cost around the same amount (this is the ordinary ones though. durasoft costs almost 6K. though in my opthalmologist's opinion, durasoft is less durable as it is thinner, that's why she would recommend the ordinary ones), and eye surgery is around 40K.

my 3 cousins swear by eye surgery.. buti nga bumaba na presyo alam ko dati nasa near 100k...

From what I know, applicable lang yung Eye/Lasik Surgery sa mga taong matataas ang grado ng mata.

last time ako nagpagawa ng eyeglasses sa sarabia megamall was 4 years ago. i think it cost me around 10K.. the lenses are lite ultra thin tapos yung frame made of titanium...

i went for LASIK procedure at St Luke's Hospital 2 years ago and i'm very happy with the result...

Maybe you got the ordinary multi coated lenses before. Nikon plastic lenses cost more than ordinary multi coated ones.

pero bat mas mahal? i might consider getting them only if they'r tougher or more scratch resistant.

It depends. Sa akin, umabot ng 5 figures. I really have bad eyes na kasi (no thanks to spending nearlly all my working life in front of a computer monitors). The good doc also had the lens treated so it would give me protection from UV rays.

Hero: Beg to differ, ang layo ng price ng eyeglasses sa HK dito, mom ko nagpagawa ng eyeglasses dun dati, yung lens na automatic nagiiba ang shade pag indoor or outdoor, it costs 4x cheaper here in Manila than in HK.

magkano magpawa ng glasses these days?
