mga fellow tsikoteers....may malaki akong problema. i need all your advises. i have been an OFW for the last 10 years. masaya naman. medyo maganda ang bigay na salary at benefits. nakakauwi every month (or every other month).

now, my former bosses from my previous casinos/hotels have transferred to manila. some of them have asked me to join them. salary? whatever i am getting now and whatever benefits i want (i have a free hand to do my package).

iniisip ko, dyan sa atin, i can do better kasi di limited ang kaya kong gawin. dito kasi chinese ang medium of communications (i am still a beginner in the chinese language). mas mababa pa ang cost of living. here, i am paying more than 50k apartment though sagot may housing allowance naman na binibigay. kung dyan, wala akong babayaran monthly.

pero may traffic, may crimes, etc.

    please help.

IMHO, if you are earning well and saving a decent amount monthly, I would suggest to stay in Macau. Although more expensive, the living conditions in Macau is better than in Manila.

If you transfer to Manila, your job opportunities in Manila will be very limited because salaries is potentially not as high as you are getting in Macau and what is currently offered to you by your ex-boss. BUT you could give Manila a try and later go back to Macau if you feel it's not working out for you in Manila. Just make sure you have enough money set aside to get back to Macau.

I assume this is in conjunction to the planned casinos complexes to be opened soon along Manila Bay?

    Go home.

2 years pa lang ako OFW at kakarenew ko lang ng another contract for 3 years.

5 to 6 times a year ako nakaka uwi, family joining visa ko, libre tiket pamilya ko, 4 kids and wife, libre hospitalization, transpo, food, water allowance, accomodation sa isang 3 room flat at iba pang mga benefits.

the question is san mo ba mas gusto? if you like it more in the philippines and the only reason you left is for a better job, then now that you got the same offer as you are making right now abroad then why stay there.

i went to highschool and college in the states but i liked it more in the philippines and i was more happy in the philippines so i decided to go back. yes i would be making a lot more than what i am making right now and i would have more opportunity and probably would be able to travel more. but money can't buy you happiness, what will you do with all that money if you're not happy? what was all your success for if you still feel like you're not where you should be? when i was living in the states i always say sana nasa philippines ako ngayon, when i moved to the philippines i never said sana nasa america ako ngayon.

as the saying goes, "home is where the heart is" palasak na ito, pero kung ano ang tinitibok ng puso mo, sundin mo. then after deciding, don't look back. goodluck!

thanks all. mas maganda talaga may mga kurokuro kayo to make me really think about my decision.

yes ghosthunter, the casinos/hotels are part of the new "entertainment city" in manila. three of my CEO/SVPs are already there and are part of three different properties. naguguluhan din ako kung sino sa kanila tutulungan ko mag bukas ng property dyan. pero that is just a very minor problem.

my colleague here (financial analyst) has signed the contract already. it is a much better offer than what he is getting here. and my former bosses have confirmed with me that they are all offering packages which nobody will reject. sabi nga nila, pano nila makukuha yung mga pinoys here in macau who had all the experiences in opening the big properties here kung di daw gagandahan ang offer. salaries will be in USD. tapos, yun na nga, tell them lang what i want (condo, transpo allowance, tax shield, etc).

i am single so i do not have problems in being mobile. was assigned in beijing, hk and now macau. yes, 10 years of being a china man (now you all know why i bought and still love my great wall coolbear which is until now one of the most respected chinese vehicle brands in the mainland).

isa pang igigive up ko is my macau id. i am already a local here and everything a local receives, i also get (financial subsidy, lower taxes, SSS, hospitalization, etc.).

if ang tanong is kung san ko gusto....my passport will tell it all. i try going home every other month. iba kasi kung titira ka sa sarili mong bahay, kasama mo mga pamilya mo, etc.

Pero in the end, "there's no place like home"!

the fact that you're asking means ayaw mo dito

well, that's what i'm getting from your post

once you're exposed to a bigger, faster-paced, more dynamic, more professional, more prosperous world coming back to the Phils. is like moving back to a small town that hasnt improved in decades

kaya it's understandable baket parang hesitant ka umuwi kahit pareho lang kikitain mo + lower cost of living pa dito

sometimes, it's no longer about money

    right?

chua....my tax here is .03% (not even 1%).

uls....siguro natatakot lang and not so sure what will manila has to offer me. i think ganun din naman when i got some offers from our competitors here in macau. kahit na same location, mag iisip ka pa rin.

ayoko lang na after i start working in manila again, babatukan ko sarili ko at itatanong kung bakit ko tinanggap.

If you can go home every month and i assume good for few days yon. KUng better ang pamumuhay mo abroad, just go home for some R&R tapos balik trabaho ulit.
