Woman who created native dish slain in Pampanga home

ANGELES CITY -- The woman who has been credited with creating "sisig," a popular Pampango dish, was found murdered in her home here at early Wednesday, the police said.

Lucia Cunanan, 80, was hit on the head with a hammer, said police Chief Inspector Jaime Villamil, chief of Station 6, which was first to respond to the crime scene.

Initial findings showed Cunanan's husband Victorino, 85 and their daughter Zeny, left their house located on C.M. Recto Street, at 4:30 a.m. to buy food for Cunanan, known locally as Apong Lucing.

When Victorino returned to the house at 5:30 a.m., he found his wife dead.

Zeny said her mother was accompanied only by a maid at the time of the incident. She said the maid has been working for the family for only two months.

The police scene of crime operatives are still investigating the incident.

Malamang yung husband nga ang pumatay. There was only a 1-hour window of opportunity. Sabi rin ng maid, narinig nya na sumigaw si Lola, pero binalewala niya yun, kasi madalas naman daw nag-aaway yung mag-asawa.
