    Another Powerful Quake Shakes Indonesia
PADANG, Indonesia - The second powerful earthquake in as many days shook western Indonesia Thursday, collapsing buildings in a coastal city and triggering tsunami alerts around the region. The latest quake was also felt in Malaysia and in Singapore where tall buildings swayed. It triggered at least one strong aftershock.
On Wednesday, a strong earthquake shook Southeast Asia, collapsing buildings, killing at least five people and injuring dozens in Indonesia. That tremor triggered a small non-destructive tsunami off the coastal city of Padang on Sumatra, the Indonesian island ravaged by the 2004 tsunami disaster. A tsunami warning was issued for wide areas of the region and nations as far away as Africa.

Thursday's magnitude-7.8 quake rattled the same area of Sumatra.

Rafael Abreu, a geologist with The U.S. Geological Survey in Colorado, said the quake on Thursday did not appear to be an aftershock to the 8.4-magnitude temblor the day before. But the centers of both were close together.

one of the most dangerous force of nature.
my worst experience was that of the 1990 killer quake in baguio.
had to walk our way out from baguio to zablan la union.it's really a nightmare seeing lots of dead/injured people.

marami na kasing makasalan sa mundo,

like our government. walang itulak kabigin. lahat may vested interest.

like the squatters, reklamo ng reklamo, wala namang taxes na maibayad, tayong nagbabayad ng taxes, ni hindi tyo makapag reklamo.

    its too ironic, isnt it?

    kaya kahit nature, galit na.

Isa sa mga pinaka kinatatakutan ko yan.

I think I have a phobia when it comes to natural calamities.

There was news on TV just a while ago na tinamaan daw ang Pinas, is this true?

It was like a preview for the main news tapos no mention of it, just Indonesia? Baka nagkamali. I also have relatives sa Singapore I hope they're OK.

Lahat ng tao ay may mga kasalanan. But i don't think that nature will get mad with our sins and punished us in such way. I always believe that everything happens with a reason and only God knows why. But i'm sure it's not because of His anger because He loves all His creations.

The best all of us can share with the victims is prayer.

kinda funny how disasters (or hints of one) brings the religious side out of people who don't even go to church every sunday. i don't think God would listen after being ignored for most of these people's lives.

    </another religious post in a calamity thread>

Pray, lead an upright life, and stock up on emergency provisions like food, water and medicines. Remember that during most natural calamities, basic and emergency services might not be readily available, like when Katrina devastated Louisiana the other year.
