Sa dami-dami ng states sa texas pa siya mag shoot. [emoji23]
Pag dito meron pa kaso yun hero.

Noticed how little media coverage this got, even in the states?
They won't promote how guns also save lives.
First mistake of the shooter, of all places, Texas.![]()
The US has a high rate of gun ownership but it's not just the number but the kind of ammunition they can access and are legal to buy. These mass murderers are using high powered ammo they can buy online. You don't stop the gun problem of mass shootings by arming the citizens with more guns for self defense. I think it's only right to ask for a more strict regulation in owning guns.

Agree to disagree LM but it's not the kinds of guns or ammo that's allowing people to commit mass murders. In this particular case in Texas, the perpetrator was using a 12 gauge shotgun which is very common even for us here in the Philippines, you see them all the time being handled by security guards.
Even a guy with a truck can commit mass murders, " On the evening of 14 July 2016, a 19-tonne cargo truck was deliberately driven into crowds of people celebrating Bastille Day on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice, France, resulting in the deaths of 86 people and the injury of 458 others. The driver was Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel, a Tunisian resident of France. "
What the U.S. has is a mental health epidemic which they won't fully acknowledge.

Less mental health problems Master Jut.
Better quality of life and contentment for the majority of their citizens.
It's what makes all the difference, in my humble opinion.
Take a look at Switzerland, nearly all households have guns and every able bodied person is required to train with them. Yet they have some of the lowest gun related crimes on the planet.

A quick read on why it Switzerland and the USA, though both having relatively high gun ownership, are very very different:
Switzerland gun laws: Why the country has fewer gun deaths than the US - Business Insider
What makes all the difference is how selective and stringent Switzerland (and all other progressive countries, really) is when it comes to gun ownership. Many people own guns, but have gone through stringent psychological testing and training before having permits to have them.
And even then, gun ownership among private citizens has declined in Switzerland as they too have become more stringent with gun laws in recent years.
I agree that the US has much higher mental health cases than other similar countries, likely due to greater income inequality than other first world nations. But then the appropriate response isn't to escalate firearms ownership so that everyone is free to shoot everyone else - that is the response of 3rd world Central America (which have even worse gun violence death rates than the US).
All other progressive countries have responded by making sure that it's really hard for the average citizen to own a gun, and the numbers show that this approach is far more effective.
Even vs Southeast Asia where access to unregistered firearms is easy (but legal ownership is not), the US still fares worse. Well, except for one country where killings are state-sanctioned [emoji28]

If you have a stronger gun you can kill many people before getting neutralized. Kidding. Yes it's not the ammo, it's the high rate of ownership, the easy access. Someone who is having a mental episode cannot do mass killing if he doesn't have a gun.
What the 'liberals' are asking is to regulate gun ownership like doing background checks, trainings, mental health evaluation, before allowing a citizen to own a gun.
Yes, agree to disagree.

Sorry, but did you read the entirety of my post LM?

You don't need a gun to commit mass murder. You can do it with a truck, a bomb, poison gas, even something as common as knives have been used.
What you're saying is like blaming cars for the millions of deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents or otherwise.
The US has been regulating the ownership of guns for decades, it doesn't solve the rise of mass murder rates.
Any person crazy enough will find a way to do what he or she intends to do. All they need is motivation.
My point is simple, you cannot rely on any government to protect yourself or the people you love. You can only rely on yourself.

But they don't have a bomb problem, a killer truck problem or whatever other mass killing means. They have a gun epidemic because what they have are guns.
I'm not blaming the cars for the millions of accidents. I'm blaming LTO for giving licenses to these unqualified drivers. I'm blaming the corruption inside them. I'm blaming the system.
It's like allowing people to own cars easily then wonder why there's so much traffic.
The US accounts for nearly half of gun ownership in the world. They don't regulate it enough.

We are talking about the gun issue and you account it to mental health. When I said that, of course I'm talking about guns. Sure a mental person can use bombs and trucks, but they don't have that problem and that's not what we are talking about here.

As an old saying goes:.
" One can choose not to believe in God, and that is their right.
One can also choose not to believe in guns, and that is their choice.
But when bad people invade their home intending to harm them and their family, I guarantee that the first 2 things they will do is call someone with a gun and pray to God they get there in time. "
Unless of course, one already has a gun and is properly trained in the use of it to defend onself. That evens the odds even just a little bit.

Very good points Master Jut and I agree with most of them.
Just as I stated, the U.S right now has a major mental health epidemic that they refuse to or are unable to address effectively.
My personal argument is fairly basic, and I'm not advocating that all people on this planet own guns, no sir, but just the simple and irrevocable fact that guns are necessary for one's protection.
Perfect example is our very own beloved country. Where some of the people tasked to protect its own citizens are the very ones committing unspeakable crimes. Can we truly rely on our very own PNP to save us when drug crazed criminals have forcibly entered our homes with the intention of robbing us, harming us, raping our women and eventually killing us?
