Guys, sorry for such OT but I do hope you welcome me here.
I am soooo in love with a G-Class. Much so with other Benzes. Especially the new E-Class Coupe. But then the G-Class is much sweeter to drive here in the province.
I believe the G-Class is so rare here in the Philippines. I wonder which models are still considered bulletproof; still 1995 below are good? I really want something that has the longevity factor of the W123's.
Still easy to work and fix wherever and whenever.
I opt for a OM617 engine with a Turbo for better pull (I hope may ganito sa G-Class). I plan to keep this car til' it dies hehe...
Still on Save Mode... But I think this will be my one time car driving in my farm and probably all-over Mindanao (Cagayan De Oro - Davao via Bukidnon route). Some light-duty job since I don't want to trash her up.
Care to enlighten me? Thanks!
1) Maintenance: Problems, Parts? I believe exterior parts would be hard but I think opting for an OM617 engine would make the maintenance easier? Am I right? I also learned there are models equipped with the OM603 engine... How does maintenance and parts availability fare up?
2) Fuel Consumption: Is it possible to get an 10km/l above on highways? Basically how would it compete against LC's consumption given the same engine and weight ratio?
3) Availability? This has been a dreading factor for me. If no good example available locally. I've been searching for auctions in Germany but fear is on the rise cause most of them are high milers. How much would importation cost considering that what I'm buying is a farm/commercial vehicle?
4) I heard there are two 4WD set-up available. Part time and Full-time which has three lockers on them...
5) Any good resource to read while waiting?
6) I'm also looking for the model with complete power amenities... Steering, Windows. Safety amenities could also be a factor (or at least a 3pt. ELR seatbelt is good enough). I think I am eyeing for a W463?
Thanks a lot.
