How fair & responsible the philippine media today? The way they print headlines are not really meant to it's content.

media ngaun example ng bringer ng bad news sa mga kings noon araw.
kung insurance agent lang mga yan, ambilis nila makabenta. imagine write-up lang pinapaniwalaan kagad ng mga tao
sometimes they are of help but sometimes not.some of these people feels they are untouchables by having their BIG ID's infront of their car and swerve their way in the road![]()
The way I see it, sensationalism = 95%
Truth, fair and RESPONSIBLE = 5%
Explains why a poor excuse for a woman like Kris Aquino wields so much power in the media...
But the masa eats it all up....![]()
Self serving ang media ngayon..
They can cry foul at the first instance of perceived harassment on their part. Pero kung me mga tinitira sila, their victims are already tried by publicity..These victims almost never have the same power and influence to defend themselves...
they also need to police their ranks..
the local media has a tendency to blow things out of proportion.
and kulang sila sa objectivity
and there are times na very obvious they are writing a story that's building up or destroying someone or something...
Pansin ko sa motoring press... when they write reviews... wala sila masabi panget...

It depends.
It depends on who you're talking about, who you're talking to, and what media organization.
There are certain media people who are honest, upright and who actually do work to tell people the truth. They're there. I read their articles every day, and I see them on TV.
There are others who sensationalize, slander and basically do anything they can to create ratings or to sell papers. You already know these people because they're the ones you see everyday.
Unfortunately, journalism is a business. Like radio broadcasting. Look at what's happening to the radio. We used to have Classical (98.7), Hardcore Jazz (88.3 before), Rhythm and Blues (105.1), Oldies (102.7), Golden Age Rock Oldies (100.3), Rock Oldies (95.5), Senti Rock Oldies (96.3), Senti (94.7), Senti Rock (103.5), Hardcore Rock (105.9) and Alternative Rock (107.5). Now, radio, like newspapers, makes a lot of money off of advertising. In fact, they only make money off of advertising.
And companies that advertise like their advertisements to reach the widest audience possible. Hence, they only advertise on mainstream radio stations with big numbers like 93.1 (Monster) or 97.1 (Campus Radio). Losing revenue, smaller stations closed down.
Now, the only real alternative stations left are 107.5 (but it's more mainstream than alternative/Euro now) and 100.3 (but they have much more mainstream programming during weekdays now.
Nowadays, radio completely sucks.

That's what's happening to broadcast and print journalism. If you want to stay alive, you've got to do things ABS-CBN style... all sensationalism and no substance.
At least some networks have very level-headed reporting, and some newspapers print well-thought out articles and editorials. In fact, even in some supposedly biased news vehicles, I find editorials supporting the opposite camp mixed in amongst the paid advertisements other columnists jokingly call articles.
But you don't tend to notice this, do you? Because, like the advertisers, you tend to focus on the glitzy headlines and barking pronouncements of the shallow personalities up front, and you don't tend to dig deeper to find the real heart of the media.
Which is why the stupid ones get rich and sell, while honest journalists plod away at their typewriters, walking the same old beats, and still get shot at every now and then in dark alleys when they happen to dig too close to the truth.
And as their numbers dwindle, the number of paid hacks on the dole just goes up and up... because it's dangerous to actually be a journalist nowadays.
Hindi lahat ng journalists biased at sensationalist. Pero since this is what sells, a lot of them are becoming that way...![]()
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
Yes there are SOME responsible print journalists out there... the Philippine Star in my opinion is the least biased among the big dailies out there. The other small business newspapers too show very little bias and just reports the news as it is.
As for TV reporting, our free tv channels do suck at reporting the real news. Natawa nga ako nung isang araw, I was waiting patiently for the UK bombing attack to be reported. Then it was reported in like just over 10 seconds... ano ba yan... matagal pa ang introduction nila kesa sa biggest report of the day. Well at least there's always ANC or ABC-5 to get a more unbiased view of things.
iisa lang ang media na gusto ko basahin, business media sa business section saka sa business channels
Subscribe ka Business Mirror. Or http://businessmirror.com.ph
best business news in Pinas.
IMO the only thing accurately printed on newspapers/dailies/tabloid is the DATE!!!![]()
Responsible journalism?- we are eons away from it.... Not really helping our country....
3202:rainbow:
Too bad I don't have a TV now. I really admire ABC5 for their ability to come up with great programming and news. And whenever they find something super-successful, ABS-CBN or GMA just buys the talents or creative team out from under them...
The BusinessMirror is a actually pretty good... I pick one up every now and then to read.
Yung problem talaga sa newspaper, you have so many sections, section editors, contributors, columnists and reporters that you can't control everybody. Kahit medyo okay ang paper mo, there might still be some misguided dolt who will put out pure crapola like those "pabango" pieces or "infomercial style" columns.
It's our responsibility as consumers, to educate others on what news to believe and what news not to. Encourage your friends to buy good newspapers, watch news on other channels, listen to better radio stations.
If all we do is complain about how sensationalist and biased the news is on ***-***, all it does is encourage more people to watch. Even if you're watching just to spot the mistakes, you're still watching (I find myself doing this sometimes). For us, when something serious happens, we flip through the channels to find a halfway intelligent reporter to see what's really going on.
Watching creates ratings. Ratings creates advertising money. Which is why they still have the same old brainless, sensationalist stuff on.
Change the channel, change the world.![]()

Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
media nowadays are sensationalize, in prints they would highten the headlines to make the people buy their newspaper...now you know why tabloids really hits the market, with their patronage of the lower class and adding a bold and unspecific headline only renders big bucks.
tv news are subjective, most of what is seen on tv, really is not the actual reality, somewhat radical perhaps in a way, tv news feed on audible and visuals, what you see may not always be as it is, sometimes media people even planted a scene to get a got scoop or or captivate viewers.
though there are some almost honest and reputable journalist, though many now are bias and one sided, and even paid to release only their good side.
why govt official fear media....just one thing fear of exposure of their indecency... which has likely been patched by hundreds of thousand.
