this kind of incident usually happens during low humidity season... gas stations should post safety precautions regarding this
Did you notice the part wherein she actually tried to blow out the flames like a candle?!
:hysterical:
Share ko lang to. I saw a similar incident here in our town involving a guy and his motorbike. It was an evening and he couldn't see the inside of his tank to determine how much he will put in. What does he do? Takes his celfone and flashes some light into the tank using the fone's camera flash (just like one of those Sony Ericssons) :screwloose:.
Eh nag ring/text!POOF! A flash of bright orange flame shooted up from the tank! I thought na sasabog but fortunately it didn't. The quick thinking attendant quickly grabbed a fire extinguisher and let her rip.
I almost peed in my shorts!

I also watched the episode from myth busters where they were try'n it on the cell phone..but didnt work..
In case you witness or something like that happens to any one of you, they said dont pull out the gas nozzle..

meron na. i wonder how come discovery channel claim it wasn't possible. perhaps wala pang nangyari- but it doesn't mean it wasn't possible. at another thing, if mobile phone doesn't cause static, how come there is this annoying sound when an incoming call or sms when a phone is placed near a speaker?Originally Posted by Zeus

At first, they claimed it was the microwave frequencies... which, obviously, doesn't make sense. Microwave strong enough to start a fire at the pumps would be strong enough to cause fires anywhere. You'd notice sparks between pieces of silverware at the dinner table when someone got an incoming call. Complete rubbish.
The current pet theory is that there might be sparks from defective keypads. Hogwash. That means that the digital keypads on the gas pumps are also dangerous... as are the cars themselves. A car's ignition system and faulty wiring causes more sparks, of a more energetic nature, than a cellphone, and fires have been traced to wiring... but not gas-station fires.
Fuel fires in motorsports occur only because of high-pressure fuel squirting onto hot components. Not from the electronics or electricals on the car. That's why they can still gas up with the engine running, even with today's overly safety conscious FIA.
Heck, I've seen cars backfire on start-up, near pumps. Gas-boys smoking twenty feet from them... Nothing. (Mythbusters even threw matches into gas...)
It's always static electricity, occuring as the attendant opens the gas cap, exposes gas vapors in the tank to the air, and touches the metal nozzle to the car... spark... boom. Nothing more, nothing less.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
