    Given that the contestants wear itty bitty bikini swim suits and there is not a single foul about it.... I find it not racy.

    Agreed. I think the b&w photos were released to create more interest in the contest, given its plummeting ratings. I'm willing to bet that most full-blooded men tune out once the swimsuit contest is over, while most full-blooded women arent interested in watching other women strut on stage anymore.
