This is going to be confusing. There will be two movies with Avatar titles.

Avatar - The Last Airbender (by M. Night Shyamalan)
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0938283/

    Avatar (by James Cameron)

As long as there will be the "Last Airbender" in it, I think it will be clear.

I watched the whole cartoon series and I'm pretty excited on this one, although from the trailer, parang iba ang origins ni avatar.

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies will release M. Night Shyamalan's live-action bigscreen adaptation of the popular animated TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender" on July 2, 2010.

Studio has dropped "Avatar" from the title of the action-adventure so as to avoid confusion with James Cameron's 3-D epic "Avatar," which 20th Century Fox opens Dec. 18, 2009.

Usually when a TV series or a novel is brought to the screen a lot of the story, plots and character development is lost.

Hopefully The Last Airbender will not be one of these. But my guess is this movie will be a computer generated effects festival rather than the plot driven-character built animated series.

The other Avatar looks interesting too.

The Last Airbender is rumored to be a trilogy and it's gonna take 6 years to make.

Actually, M.Night Shyamalan, despite his other faults, tends to make his movies more character driven than all-out effects fests... so as long as the scriptwriter is the same as for the TV series, or at least consults the show's creators in-depth, I have big hopes for this movie.

But I'm looking forward to James Cameron's Avatar a little more... it should be epic.

I will definitely watch both. If only to get the taste of 2009's summer of sh** out of my mouth...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
