well, you're not the first guy to think of that. I also went that path as a sideline to my CD copying biz a couple of years ago. Downside is the amount of work needed to get a VCD done right.

I initially used a card version of the dazzle... it gave out after six months, probably overheated it or something. I later got the USB version. That one is still working now.
just like ghosthunter said, you need a tv capture card. just bought one last week, brand is ECS EZ-TV. im still trying to play with it pa lang. if youre planning to transfer your vhs to vcd, you need to have a 20GB (at least) hardisk. thats for the raw file after you captured your vhs movie.
ok now im wondering naman how to convert un audio Tapes into cd?? kasi yung collection ng sis ko naluluma na gusto ko syang iliapt naman from tape to cd... any idea?
mga how much kaya lahat? kasi around 200++ tapes ata tong andito.. ang quoted price 300/tape paconvert, kaya naisip ko ako nalang gagawa.. just dunno how
Originally posted by jds Actually, kung video capturing lang, eh straightforward lang yan.
Capture video input ---> save the files as .mpg ----> Burn the .mpg file as a VCD format.
If you want to edit your captured file, you will need a lot of diskspace.
I'm using a Snazzi Video Creator, u can also try Pinnacle.

Ako Pinnacle....my long process:
Transfer VHS to MiniDV (RCA connection from VHS Player to MiniDV Camcorder)
Transfer MiniDV to PC using Pinnacle (Firewire Connection from MiniDV to PC)
Pinnacle Software has a lot of editing tools. Kaya nga DVD but you need a DVD writer.
sir boybi ang dami kasi...some songs dinownload ko na nga pero pag dinownload ko sya sa net, matagal. and prepaid lang magagamit ko.. and around 200 tapes+ un sa boyfriend din nya marami pa... tas 10 to 12 songs/tape so 2000 songs un haha tagal ata sobra sir eh... patay din HD ko nun hehe
sayang kasi talaga magaganda pa naman.. analog kasi ang tape tas digital ang cd. i was just wondering maybe may makatulong sakin dito... wala bang may idea?
snazzi comes with a capture software, it has a feature where you can adjust the contrast, brightness, color and saturation ng video na ika-capture mo. I've been using this to capture TV programs or from Video Cam and VHS player.
And I edit the capture mpg file using Video Studio. My harddisk capacity is 100GB/
I have also pinaccle tv tuner card, I'm able to save TV programs directly to my PC.
If you want the best capture card try mo Matrox RT5000 (yata). Approx. price U$600-700.
