Why were these 26 gorgeous contestants photoshopped to the point of almost not looking human?

The official Miss World Philippines portraits are here and they are wildly retouched. As in, much more photoshopped than your average beauty pageant portrait series. Or as in, their pores look like they're vomiting sunshine. Photos of the 26 contestants were published to Yahoo Philippines, where commenters feverishly speculated over the very heavy-handed retouching. The tipster who sent the series to PetaPixel offhandedly remarked that perhaps the photographer was "high when he post-processed these photos."

Whatever he was high on, must have been good stuff.

Some of those pics almost look like they had a solarize filter applied to them. Just twitch that slider a little more and it'll be psychedelic.
